Robert Wisleder says:

Thank you, thank you! Nothing in my 2018 Honda Clarity Owners Manual about this. I was reluctant to get too physical since I wasn't sure how the FOB is put together. Piece of cake after your demo!

Barbara Brady says:

Be careful, when attempting to pull out the old battery, that you don't pull the whole inside mechanism away from the front of the fob. Sproing! All the tiny buttons on the front will fall to the floor and the whole thing will be in pieces! This happened to me. Fortunately, I found all the pieces, and it was not too difficult to reassemble it. So be sure to hold the inner mechanism together with your thumb as you gently pry out the battery.

Walter De La Cruz says:

Use a flat screw driver to split open the remote housing. Do not use your thumbnail.

JustMeOutHere says:

You are awesome!!
Thank you!!!

Haley Collier says:

Do you have to reset the key fob in any way? I bought a brand new battery (and yes with the same number) yesterday and did everything shown in the video and it's still not working. The fob won't even come on

Patrick Sheeran says:

It's a fine video, and I like his common sense and enthusiasm. However, I have ten thumbs, and when I used the screwdriver to pop the battery out, the innards that include the four 'pictures' of what each part of the key does all came out, plus the "hold" red part. Because my wife also has a key, and using it to show what the outside looks like, I managed to get most of them back in place–looking now, I see that the trunk opener and the semi-circular indicator are now backwards, so now I have to go back in and change them. (Pause) (Longer pause: right side, wrong direction). Happy ending, though: it all looks good, and, more to the point, it all works! (Sigh). Thank you for the video.

Sam N. says:

Do you need to reprogram the FOB afterwards?

Ingrith Garza says:

Thank you!!
Husband was like take it to honda. I was like let me google it :)!

To make this even easier, place a coin between the inner portions inside the housing (as shown at 0:30, looks like back-to-back E's) and gently twist the coin to pop the housing apart. It is nearly effortless, and no need to fit your fat thumbs in that small space!

tripjet999 says:

@0:35 – WRONG! You do NOT want to push on the thin "ears" of the remote housing, which could easily break! Place a coin between the inner portions inside the housing (as shown at 0:30) and gently twist the coin to pop the housing apart.
