Romeo's Relics says:

great video. thank you for sharing

Douglas Lee says:

52fendertelecasster is right. However you can make it even simpler. After you have pulled the actuator out, remove the pull cable from the old actuator and move it to the new one. Manual unlock is now done. Don't go into the trunk at all. Then swap the electric fitting and you are done. The only new piece will be the actuator unit itself. About 5 minutes if you have done it before..

Great video of this fix!

There’s no reason to lift the car

Mayer I says:

Mine seems to be frozen shut. I'm assuming the actuator of bad. Vs checking the fuse and to see that it's getting power? As it's in theblocked position and I had to manually force the door open. Didn't know there was a pulley in the truck. As they say you live and learn.

Jo G says:

As said in another comment, I did not have to take the wheel off or to remove the wheel well. I taped a small rigid electrical cable to the release cable on the new part and fished it through the hole in the trunk and I put the grommet in place. My old actuator was still working but I had several issues in cold freezing weather where the gas door would not open so I decided to change it. The part was 67$ CAD at my local Honda dealer and the job took me about 10 min to complete.

The fact that my 2020 accord with 12k miles needs to be replaced is sad.

MikeN says:

Thank you for this

Larry Brown says:

Don't buy a new actuator use a locking gas cap

Kirk Lazarus says:

There's an easier way to do this, and it can be done without taking the wheel off or removing the wheel well. Once you've freed the actuator from the clips, remove the cable from the mount on the side, then tie dental floss to that end and tie the other end of the floss to the looped end of the new cable. Drag the old cable out through the trunk and bring the new one in through the same opening. Just have needle nose pliers on hand to fit the grommet in place within the trunk. Doing it this way only took me about 15 minutes start to finish.

Thanks,mine doesn’t buzz it just won’t open

Ruby's FitFam says:

Honda quoted me freakin labor $190 + part $170 for this procedure. smh
I can do this!

The Fixer Upper says:

I just replaced the actuator for a new one was fine for a few months and now the noise is back those actuators are garbage Honda needs to do something about this do some kinda recall don’t want to spend another 45 dollars on a new actuator. And yes I did but an oem Honda actuator.

Steve Apa says:

Thanks. Just replaced mine. Note to everyone, the plastic push fasteners can be re-used. The part was $25

Amanda Daoud says:

Hello, thanks for the video!
Question – Would this be the same part and process for the 2017 civic?

Buisness email says:

pointless technology lmao gas door does not need this

Manuel Soto says:
