I ask the dealer but they ask for to much 1,200 I need something cheaper.
@rmh51 I believe bank 1 is the same converter that I replaced. It’s the one
at the firewall.
Use some type of spray like wd40 or loosening type spray to brake the bolts
you do not have to replace the pipe, unless it has holes in it. i would run
a scanner on it first, so you know what codes come up. this will tell you
what is wrong. mine had code p0420, which means bad cat. mine has 3 of
them. it told me which one it was, and i confirmed that info, with my local
honda dealer, where i bought the parts
@ nostalgiamelancolia1. You don’t have to change out the pipe , unless
there are holes in it. But that wouldn’t cause check engine light to come
on. Faulty cat convertor would.
i have no code on my 99 accord – but there’s definitely a rattle inside the
catcon…sounds like a piece has broken off. i passed inspection last week
so it’s working, but i don’t want that piece to clog it off. of course i
don’t want to pay 600 to get a replacement either. trying to figure out if
i can diy it…. did my timing belt last year, this should be cake if i can
get it out, right? i’m sure those bots are rusted to hell – but that’s what
the impact is for.
I have a question where can I buy the catalytic for a Honda accord 03
please help!:)
Hey Kelly, only place to buy the catalytic convertor is at the dealer. If
you have them do it, it’s expensive. I bought mine at the dealer. It was
about $480-$500 for actual catalytic convertor. I did buy 02 sensors, metal
gasket, bolts & nuts. I spent under $900 but I did get a shop discount
i have 2003 accord v6, and how many converters are there? 3? do i need to
change all 3?
It was tough making a video and working on the car at the same time. I need
to get me an assistant.
@ballingm23. I would take your car to autozone, where they can run a
scanner to see what codes pop up. This will tell you which converter or
converters are bad. I replaced the converter that was at the rear of the
motor, by the firewall, and also replaced the 02 sensor that was next to it.
hey how did u remove the two bolts on the bottom of front cat? how did u
loosen it up, i tried to take it off, but it didnt budge.
Cool video thanks for taking the time to make and post!!
Thanks for the post. I am trying to replace the same part in my 2005
Accord. When ordering the part, is the one near the firewall synonymous
with “bank 1” and the “rear converter”? I just don’t want to order the
wrong part. Thanks.
