I hope you read this
I have a 2004 Honda Civic 1.7 L
I put a new radiator in a few Months ago and there were no issues. Now I am having a problem where the temp goes up. I replaced the thermostat that’s for 175 degrees, cooling fan sensor and the radiator temp sensor. I’m still having the problem. When I drive it’s fine but when I’m trying to park or at an idle it starts to go up. Thanks a bunch

Same car mine has the p0505 code and also overheating fan comes on but the temperature keeps going up

SHIFTY says:

Thermostat, water pump, blocked radiator, cracked expansion tank, head gasket, split hose, leaky Temp sensor, bad fan, bad relay, bad wiring, or bad ecu.

Jim I have a 2003 honda civic Ex, My coolant isn't circulating. Top hose gets very hot Bottom hose stays cold. Replaced the Thermostat today still staying cold. The car sat up for 5 yrs before I purchased it. Could it be clogged? I dont want to buy another radiator if I dont have to.

Christian A. says:

Jim if that switch wasn't the problem what would you check for next? water pump?

I have an 02 Honda Civic and it keeps overheating. We changed the thermostat and it seemed to do the trick for a couple of weeks and would only overheat in cold weather. We also bypassed the fan so it would always be on but it still overheats at idle

dnomixer says:

Jim, the problem ended up being the head gasket. Thankfully the head wasn't warped. Our Del Sol is back together now and running fine. Thank you for your time.

Curious about my 1993 Honda Del Sol. Replaced the radiator, thermostat, both radiator hose (heater hoses replaced last year) the thermoswitch for the cooling fan as well a the ECM temperature switch. Car runs fine and stays in normal range yet fan still doesn't come on. Used a jumper wire to test fan, works fine that way. Worried the head gasket may be bad. Any input would be appreciated.

I just replaced top and bottom radiator hoses. I also got the radiator cap brand new. When the car first overhead a week ago. I found the bottom hose to be the culprit. Thus the reason I got new hoses. Thermostat got out in about 4 months ago and new water pump and timing belt done two weeks ago. I out antifreeze in run car and I touch the radiator cap but it doesn't feel hot when the car over heated. I found that weird. Also, that little vent over the radiator seems to release steam when the car overheats. Any ideas. Thanks in advance. I'm not much of a mechanic but trying to save money anyway I can.

As always….great video!! Now im helping my best friend with her civic. Replacing her thermostat tomorrow. Hoping that solves her overheating issue. Already replaced the fan that wasnt working…but still overheating. Hoping the thermostat does the trick! Thanks again!!

Jorge Perez says:

I have a 98 Honda Civic and a few weeks ago it over heated. I noticed that the coolant in the over flow tank was boiling and the cap was off. Don't know if it was pressure from the engine. I'm not a mechanic so bare with me. I had the thermostat replaced about 3 months ago so it's fairly new. The car has 194000 miles. One other issue I've been having prior to the car overheating is that I don't have any heat in the cabin. Don't know if the heater core is no good or just clogged. Could the water pump or head gasket have anything to do with either of my issues. I did check the cooling fan and it turns on. Any advice as to what I can check next to fix over heating. I'm going to check hoses again. Thanks in advance.

What does it mean if the top hose is hot but the bottom hose is cold?
