Good video, can you tell me if the eu1000i have a built in cooling fan ?

car2069 says:

The only problem with this style hour meter is when charging a 12v battery,
you run out of gas and forget to remove the alligator clips, you check back
a few hours later and the hour meter is still ticking away from the battery
power with the engine turned off. Luckily I’m using a Curtis brand
resettable hour meter, and it was only 40 hrs on the unit so I reset it and
left it powered up for 2 days on a battery before reinstalling it on the
gen. I’m gonna add a huge diode to the charge leads so it doesn’t happen
again.

Nightskywatcher2 says:

OK, thanks. I suppose I could also do something similar with some
temporarily wired up battery clips hooked directly to the battery terminals
on a 12 VDC car battery. Thanks again.

William Todd says:

I need to install an hour meter on my riding mower, so all I need is to
ground one side of the hour meter, and then the other wire to a 12vdc
source when the key is on?

Nice video. I am about to do this same job and I have a question for you. I
have had my EU2000i for a little over 5 years and I have kept an informal
log of approximate run time to date. To your knowledge, is there any way to
“enter” or otherwise cycle the new hour meter to start off reflecting the
hours already run on the generator?

Dave Galligher says:

Could you tell us the wire size (looks like 12 to 14 gauge) and order
instructions for butt splicing sleeve? Part number would be helpful, found
some on Amazon, don’t want to order the wrong ones. Thanks in advance.

WestCoastWetbikes says:

Any wire will do. I used either 18ga or 16ga. Make your connection
according to wire size. Or, strip off the heat shrink on end of connector
at DC outlet and solder the new wires to the connector.

WestCoastWetbikes says:

The only way would be to wire it up to a power source. Maybe make a pigtail
with cigarette plug and plug it into your car for a day or so……. (as
needed)
