Hey Mike. Thanks for the video. I just fixed my power window, I saved $100 (I was given that estimate), and it only took like 15 to 20 minutes. Super easy!

ac2332 says:

Dang man banging track………..Oh by the way this helped me fix my power window also LOL!!!!

Mike Mccool says:

That was just a moisture/vapor barrier. Its just a piece of plastic to prevent moisture from entering the vehicle. later

Leslie JS says:

what was that extra layer you removed that had duct tape holding it up? I’m looking to install sound-deadener, and was looking for instructions on removing the panel on a 2002 civic. Shouldnt be too different.

CJ Burtwell says:

Yeah i found the problem and i can’t see it fully. but luckily i put a 2 by 4 to hold the window up. Your video did help, thank you

Mike Mccool says:

Don’t know for sure without seeing it but sounds like the plastic tabs that are used to attach the window to the regulator assembly might be broken which would mean you have replace the window itself. good luck

CJ Burtwell says:

My window doesn’t come up or down any more, it just fell into the door. Do you think i can fix it?

Francisco Gonzalez says:

My panel right under the window control doesn’t have that screw in the middle of the lil cup. Where would it be in that case? I looked around and no screw hole.

cjdean9 says:

I now have disco city on my mind.. probably for days

highcs4me says:

Will this work for the 07 model as well?

Pac Rascon says:

this is kind of an irrelevant question but would you know where to buy door panels for a 2000 civic si? everywhere ive looked its been ridiculous prices.

Mike Mccool says:

Cool! I’m glad it helped…

Mike Mccool says:

I don’t think that would be a problem.. but make sure you get the wiring harness going all the way to the underdash fuse block. The block should be ready to go with the correct slot for power window doors… As far as the interchange between years I pretty sure 97-2k are the same but visually compare before purchase. Good luck

HONDAxPOWER1 says:

hey, i was thinking about doing the manual windows to power windows conversion. can i just buy the door with power windows allready install on it (from another car) and put it directly on my car? And my car is a 1997 civic hatch, so do i really need to buy the door from a 1997 or i can play between 1996-2000 years? thanks for the help!

Patricia Akpan says:

You are freakin awesome! Thanks for the help! It was way easy to do with your instruction video

Gus Vega says:

what is the bracket called at 2:12 in this video, i lost mine and need a replacement, thanks.

Ubermenschkin says:

I intended to replace the regulator largely because I work for a wholesale auto parts warehouse and can get parts cheap as long as they’re for my personal car. Since I already had the door all torn apart, it made sense to pull the 17 year old regulator and replace it with a new one. As it happened, I needed to anyway as the old regulator was trashed,

But, yeah, if your old one works you can keep it. I was just repeating what the service bulletin said.

Mike Mccool says:

From what I gather the run channel slowly looses the fuzzy coating and so that the window will grab the rubber. This happens mainly when wet. Also, the supporting brackets and mounting points for the front track bar are to weak allow it to flex enough for the window to pop out. I wouldn’t think you’d need to replace the regulator but I do agree you need the channel… Good luck

Ubermenschkin says:

Thanks for the reply.

I found a Honda service bulletin that agrees with what you’re saying: ’96 to 00, just some of them depending on the VIN from 97 on, but basically all of the ’96 Civics. It said to replace the regulator, the glass run channel, or both.

Currently my passenger side window, door panel and window regulator are in my bedroom and I’m getting ready to drive my partially demolished car around so that I can find a replacement glass run channel. Hope it doesn’t rain.

Mike Mccool says:

96-00 for sure but I’m hearing from a few people with the older 92-95’s with similar probs….

Ubermenschkin says:

“This is a common problem with this year range of Honda Civic…”

What year range?

Martin Garcia says:

i like my doors but the driver door still opens what can be the problem?

Mike Mccool says:

Not sure… Mine always rolled down fine but when I rolled it up the front edge would not move up properly causing the window to bind. I could get it to roll up if I pulled up on the front edge while rolling it up with the motor.

Martin Davila says:

hey man my driver side window makes like some sort of poping sound when going down and then it seems as if the window falls out of place or something could this be the way to fix that?

u2slow223 says:

g/f has a 2000 ex with the tweeter in the corner it is important that u take that off before trying to put the panel back on. i spent an extra hour tryin to put the panel on with the tweeter in place save yourself the embarassment and take it off

NedTheDread says:

My window is stiff. Is there an easy way to lubricate it? What should I use? Grafite, grease…? Thanks for the video.

madhooliganxo says:

Marcus Rodger says:

Thank you sir. Fixing this window in a Canadian Winter is necessary.
