Would it be the same process for the 2005 V6 3.0 engine?
Awesome vid thanks for sharing!

erik61801 says:

id just like to say that the oil pump is driven by the crankshaft. not a
belt. the only belt driven accessories are the water pump, cam shaft and two
balance shafts on their own belt

Chris Scheffler says:

One of the best auto videos on youtube. Well done!

Raymond Siu says:

how much do you think is the labor rate to get all of these done, timing
belt, timing belt tensioner, camshaft tensioner, water pump, tensioner belt

I heard it can be quite expensive, how much did you charge the customer for
this job?
i have a 98 accord lx 4 cyl

Michelle Manatan says:

Hey Brian. This is probably one is the clearest tutorials I’ve ever seen.
Thank you. But my question is, how long dud it actually take you to to
replace the belt? I notice this video is 55.5 minutes long with just a
couple of edits. The reason I ask is cuz I do not have all of the necessary
tools for this and will take it to a shop, but want to make sure i’m not
getting over charged on labor time. Thanks in advance! I have a 98 civic
with an after market 97 1.8 vtech btw :-)

samboheena says:

Thanks for the lengthy video. I like your Truth poster in the background :).
Question: I melted some of the lower plastic belt cover when trying to heat
the crank bolt with mapp gas. It didn’t distort very much and only the
bottom half of the opening that the crank sagged a little about 1/2 inch.
To me it doesn’t look like there’s room for a whole lot of dirt to get in
there. However the top half did sag enough to rest on the crank pulley.
What I’m wondering is if the plastic that’s touching will just wear down
enough to create clearance again or rub enough to melt it again. It seems
to run and sound fine.

2006 accord uses timing chain not belt

GREAT VID ETCG

BrooXL1 says:

Also, didn’t need to pull the access plug to lock the rear balancer pulley
because the pully was marked with a dot that lines up with a rib on the
casting. And, is there a spec for the tension springs? One of them looked
like the previous technician might have hyper-extended the timing belt
tensioner spring on the top coil and made it a little weak.

BrooXL1 says:

Thank you so much for the detailed video & tips, Brian & team! A few things
I noticed in my first timing belt on ’96 vtec Accord: 1) getting crank bolt
loose was a nightmare! Almost assembled an oxy-acet torch but a buddy
happened to have a 4x torque multiplier which worked like a charm! (keeping
my eye out on Ebay for one now! 2) getting lower timing cover off was not
even close to how easy as it looks in your video; got it out with a few
scrapes, putting it it back was another nightmare!

Heckler SC says:

Thx for the video man. I like how you explain stuff especially cuz I’m
about to replace a water pump on my girls Honda. So this Video was really
helpful.

Hung Dung says:

brian,,thank you very much for sharing this video…i will it use as a
guide in replacing my lancer timing belt 97 model ^__^…will i change also
the tensioner and the water pump? more power

Micah Couch says:

Great video dude!!! I just bought a 96 Honda Accord with the 2.2L VTEC and
there is no evidence the water pump and timing belt were changed (it just
rolled over 115K) so I’m ordering the Gates Kit (TCKWP244) and some other
parts to tackle this in the next few days. How long did it end up taking
you?? I’m ordering a new OE valve cover gasket and I’ll go pick up some OE
Honda AntiFreeze to refill the system with. Again, great video!!!

Connor Walker says:

Wow. Amazing video man! It was very thorough and it made it a lot easier
for me to change my timing belt.

brian when are you going to show us how to do replace the timing belt on a
mitsubishi eclipse v6 3.0. there nothing about that engine on youtube. i
would really appreciate it

oterrax says:

Great video Brian. I would also recommend replacing these seals. I replaced
the timing belt and water pump then 8 months later these seals! Yes, I wish
I had replaced the seals when I did all that work before… oh and replace
the timing belt if it gets full of oil, mine did.

oterrax says:

No its designed that way for some reason.

gneesh14 says:

was half of the motor mount missing?

SEIFNOE2342 says:

I have a problem with my 2004 Honda civic’s coolant system. For some reason
the coolant overflows the reservoir when the car gets hot and will run hot
because the radiator runs low in coolant and it seems like if the coolant
is not flowing back into the radiator. I have replaced the radiator cap and
thermostat, and the fan is working fine. Do you think the water pump is the
problem?

anew bearing in, lost on no spring pressure and alignment whether or not I

Looking at what you had to do to get to that crank sensor would you advise
changing it even if there isn’t anything wrong with it yet?

ketel15.56 says:

Balance shaft seal blew out. Appears they had probs with these blowing
out.. They have a retaining plate that bolts over the seal now that keeps
it in place.

briansmobile1 says:

You’re welcome- thank you!

Peter H. Smith says:

Suppose I get to “remove the cam sensor wire from the lower timing cover”
and can’t find the wire? Hmm, it’s supposed to attach to cam sensors. I’ll
see if it’s dangling from them. Well what do you know? No cam sensors? What
do I lose by continuing to run with no cam sensors? Where would I hook up a
replacement wire?

Joe Seely says:

where is your shop located at? and could I get an idea of what the cost is
for replacing a timing belt, water pump, idler (kit) on a 1994 Mitsubishi
3.0 in a Plymouth Voyager.

briansmobile1 says:

The government didn’t even MAKE ME DO IT.

0wetduck0 says:

I have a 2006 Accord and my timing belt just broke. Is it advisable to
change the water pump at the same time? 120,000 miles never been done
