do you do this as proactive maintenance or did everything break?

c00kiesM0nsterEatYou says:

always be proactive is my motto, at the time it was going on 200K miles,
you should change timing belt at 100K internal and since everything was
open I rolled in all the other preventative maintenance too.

basically get all your tools before hand and lay them out. the biggest
issue you will encounter is the harmonic balancer bolt which will need a
special tool and an extender to give you some leverage to loosen it. every
other bolt arent that hard to remove. all in all you just need to get a
good manual and some elbow grease and it should be an easy job. also make
sure you have all the parts you want to replace before hand.
