Jack stands help with allowing me to use the jack in the front to hold the
engine up.protects the exterior trim from the jack .

andresatumass says:

Thank you for sharing, it is very helpful. I am about to do the same
procedure but I do not have jack stands. Do you know if it is possible to
do it with ramps? or is it imperative to have the front wheels off the
ground. Perhaps the only thing that the video is missing is to
differentiate a good mount vs a bad one. Thank you again.

Pay attention Spencer Gray, this is your next project!!!

Thanks for this helpful video 🙂

PKLINY says:

I just did this on 2007 Civic and your video was instrumental. The only
thing you can add to your parts list is that you need the 14MM socket for
the side bracket that bolts close the the fender side that has to be
unbolted so that you have enough room to remove the mount .

Edward Agustin says:

Would it be possible to do this without jacking up the car? I was thinking
of not jacking it up, but of course still putting a jack for engine
support. Also, regarding the jack and the piece of wood, would I put it
right at the jack point under the car or under the oil pan as you stated.
Also, thanks foe the simple and to the point explanation. Thanks again!

PICKINSHACK Great vid., but you didn’t say when you jacked it up how you
found the FR bad motor mount, said it was to have a 1 cm gap on another web
site, and how to know what to look for on the other 2-3 mounts! Thanks best
video on subject! RLJ

@ Pedro glad to hear you saved money ! Thats what its all about – thank you
for posting your comment!

Pedro Torres Jr says:

I will like to thank pickinshack for the tutorial. I have a 2008 honda
civic ex coupe with the same issue. The engine vibration driving me crazy.
After doing some research it was the engine mount. I swapped it this
morning and the vibration is gone. Best of all it only cost me $55. I saved
between parts and labor almost $1000. Once again thank you very much for
the tutorial.

PickinShack says:

@ 87sevin thats great you did the job! you saved your money for both parts
& labor!

87sevin says:

Just swapped out my motor mount last night and the tutorial definitely
helped! thanks! I purchased my replacement mount from Amazon.com for around
40$ from a parts reseller. That beats the dealer 250$ pricetag. My old
mount was completely seperated. Good luck to anyone else who has the
“vibrating engine” issue!

Great Vid!…Will i be able to lower the engine 2-3 inches on that side
without damaging anything? i need to access the tensioner bolt that broke
in half. i need to remove the broken bolt from the engine block and i need
a access to broken bolt.

How can you tell if your motor mount is broken? My car vibrates a lot when
I first start it up but im thinking thats normal?

Kelvin Aiken says:

Thanks for the video! Going to help when I replace my motor mount due to
excessive vibration in my 07 LX.

PickinShack says:

welcome and its easy job I thought it was going to be harder than it turn
out to be .

PickinShack says:

there is no way I would drop my engine 2 or 3 inches you will do damage.
you have all sorts of lines.

reallegood says:

I have done a lot of maintenance on my civic by myself. I often check
youtube for help and this is by far one of the better DIY videos for a 2007
Honda Civic

bestr0nginlife says:

Thanks for the private email. I will do that, I am going to open the hood
and have my wife run the engine and put it in park and then in drive to see
what is vibrating. Will let you know my results! And I am not going to wait
that long, I just got this car 2 days ago and I know that vibration equals
more wear! thx

bestr0nginlife says:

I have a 2008 civic gx that vibrates when idling at stop sign. When I put
the car in neutral or park at a stop light instead of drive the vibration
goes away. How do I test for what’s wrong? Other forums said replacing
motor mount front right did the trick?? Thanks for any help

MadamTootSie says:

hi do you know what is the name of the mount or bracket (not sure which)
that goes on to the A-frame and connects to the engine? 2008 civic
