Please state the year! Some years had a giant baffle attached to the manifold!

@ejohejohejoh says:

Is this possible on a 1.8 liter engine? I'm new to working on cars and I wanna fix my starter

@samg5543 says:

Just don't teat the intake tube rubber

@DougJones-l6j says:

What about the heat shield behind manifold

@Agoodmint says:

Maybe if you remove the cooling fans for more space.

@Agoodmint says:

20 minutes? Lol.

@Agoodmint says:

This video shows the new starter going in with ample room, no air plenum in sight. I could only get about 4 to 5 inches of space using this method- which I tried first. Idk about this video. When the starter is shown going in- that intake plenum is nowhere to be seen. Deceptive? Idk. But on a 2014 it’s just not practical.

@Agoodmint says:

It’s not as easy as this quick video makes it seem. Mine is a 2014. The intake plenum looks different on mine. Black plastic. Maybe that’s why this just didn’t work for me.

@Agoodmint says:

The positive terminal on the starter is so annoying to access. But with the correct combination or sockets/wrenches/extension, it works. Be patient. Think. I still say remove the air intake. It just gives you much more accessibility

@Agoodmint says:

Sorry. I did my 2014 today. I tried this method first- but ended up completely removing the intake. It just gives you so much more access to the starter and it’s still a pain. But definitely a job someone with some decent tools can do. Be patient, don’t give up. Replace the intake gaskets as well, although it’s probably not necessary. But they are $16. And it’s a great opportunity to clean the throttle body.

@LOS281 says:

what gaskets are u replacing?

@rubengalaviz8350 says:

Will it work on a 2016 Honda Accord?

@alexsails80 says:

Which are the gaskets you mentioned that need replacement?

@ShaunBedford-f2w says:

There is a hidden mounting bolt,, you got five up top three below on the bottom mounting surface are bolts two up toddler nuts then there's a hidden one below that's like a bracket

@SQueeKzz says:

I can do this. "Torque to 16 foot-pounds…" ok wtf is a foot-pound, I'm out.

@sfitz-rp4du says:

Brian doesn't mention he has super monkey arm strength dexterity/flexibility. Also, I am pretty sure there is a lower support bracket that needs unbolting. I'm taking time myself to take the sucker out so I can use wratchet / cheater pipe on starter bolts & undo the power supply nut without an adventure.
