Mike Brennan says:

Yes, if you are just replacing the “dim light bulb” you can reach around from the top through a hole in the frame and twist the bulb 90 degrees and remove and change it. Just get a light down in there so you can see what you have to do.

I watched this video and was cussing out the GM engineers for making it so difficult but it is really very easy to just change the bulb. This was on my 2009 GMC Sierra.

Pete Matte says:

hi Scott you went the long way to change your bulbs the passenger side you just take out the air box and the driver side you take out the battery plate then the 10 mill bolt on the washer fluid jug there is a rod that goes from the fender to the rad support removing this rod gives you more room the washer jug moves far enough away to remove the bulb. it does take two hands one to hold the jug out of the way the trick is to unplug the bulb then remove it put new one in then plug back in 20 min

C. Charles Hahn says:

I can attest from experience that it is NOT necessary to remove the light assemblies in order to install HIDs or change a bulb. Just have to take the trim piece on top of the radiator fans under the hood off, and remove the airbox. Then you’ll have plenty of room to work on either side, and it’s a lot less labor than tearing the front of the truck apart.

Kevin Healer says:

Great. Thanks for the info. I’ll try that next time. Cheers.

I just replaced the passenger side low beam bulb on my 2011 sierra 2500 HD diesel this morning. I did not have to remove the air box. If you take out the plastic fasteners from the forward half of the wheel well liner and remove the two threaded stews at the forward bottom of the liner then pry the liner back (you will have to turn the wheel hard to the right).l then lay underneath the truck and you will find you can reach up and get both hands on the light to remove and replace it. Took 10 min.

take it to the dealer and demand repair if its new

pamela demontigny says:

thnx for your reply..but we got it figured out..we jst had to replace the switch..

Scott513 says:

sorry im not so sure about that one.

pamela demontigny says:

our GMC’s lights started acting up..flickering n very dim headlights, so the guy says it has something to do with ‘daylight lights’??..before this we thought we smelled burnt wires..??..plz n thnx for any response.

Kevin Healer says:

My hands are like bunches of bananas, but I was able to replace the driver’s side bulb with long handled needle nose pliers. And yes, the airbox had to come out on the passenger side. I managed to do both sides in about a half an hour. It’s much more difficult than it needs to be, that’s for sure.

Scott513 says:

once i get a warm day ill try with out removing the bumper and make a video.
the main reason for this video was how to remove the headlamps not just replace the bulbs.

aaronluis11 says:

there’s some space for your hand to go through on the driver’s side, but for the passenger side you have to remove the air filter and it’s a pain in the ass, not as difficult as what scott is doing but still takes some time to replace a single bulb…

aaronluis11 says:

it’s a pain in the ass to replace the bulb on the passenger side! you have to remove the hole air filter box!

Scott513 says:

it seems thats the best option. i cant fit my hand in behind

Kevin Healer says:

Do you have to remove the headlight assembly just to replace a bulb too??

ogles824 says:

OK for the folks that just want to change a bulb this proceedure is extreme overkill. The passengers side all you need to do is take the top off of the air cleaner box, use a screwdriver to push down on the bulb to remove it and work it back toward the air box. The drivers side loosen the washer fluid filler neck and you are good to go……..

Scott513 says:

no problem. even if you didnt buy your hids from us we are happy to help you all the same!

666canam666 says:
