There should be a few bolts on the outside of the door, or on the inside,
that hold the latch in place. You would need to remove the door panel to

How do I change out the door mechanism inside the door where the door
latches closed. I bought a new door handle for the inside but I don’t think
that is it.
You could try to put some white lithium grease on the regulator channel to
see if that helps to speed it up.
I just recently had my driver door replaced with a used one. The body shop
used the existing power window regulator and motor in the used door they
replaced. Now I’m having a problem with the window going back up. It goes
down ok, but it stops intermitently while powering it to go back up. I have
to wait 5 to 10 seconds in between each attempt to power the window up a
little at a time. Would the assembly mostly need greasing first before a
motor would fail on these window regulators? Thanks!

You can attach the new regulator with rivets like factory did, or most
people just use some small nuts and bolts that will fit securely in there.

So after drilling out the rivets, what will then keep that piece in its’
spot after replacing the regulator? Also, my truck has rivets holding the
speaker in, so what would be the most practical way to hold the speaker in
after that?

If the cable is hung up on something, you would need to free up the cable
to enable the window to slide down.

very helpful. I have one question, what if my window doesn’t roll down? I
want to replace the regulator but can’t even start because the window
doesn’t roll down.
how can i tell if my motor for my 97 chevy power windows is bad or if it’s
just the regulator…my wife drove it too McDonalds rolled the window down
and now it’s stuck down…this happened once before…and i took the door
panel off and ran through the wires and it fixed the problem last
time…but this time i can hear a “Clicking” sound when i try to roll the
window back up…i also ran the wires backwards to make sure it wasn’t the
switch…any kind of help would be great.

HI Keith, We currently do not have a video that shows this repair. Usually
you need to remove the glass from the window regulator, then remove the
glass out of the top of the door window opening. This may to finagle the
glass and tilt it to remove it from the door. Hope this helps you out.

I have a 1997 chevy tahoe with the left side rear door window regulator
motor has gone out. I bought a replacement motor, but I cannot replace just
the motor because the original motor is permanently attached to the
regulator. does 1aauto have a regulator with the motor allready attached
for the left side rear window of my tahoe? also I do not know what size
those rivets are. I would like to get the correct size to use and replace
the ones I cut out. what size is used for the rivets?
Thanks for walking me through the process. The rod that is connected to the
exterior door handle came loose and the door would not open from the
outside. I used this video to remove the inner door panel and access the
small area behind it. Door works like new and best of all I didn’t have to
pay a dime to get it fixed! Keep up the good work and thanks for providing
such great videos.

i had to do that a couple times on my old 97. had to do the window,
regulator, panels, latch, rod, inner and outer handle, was a mess. needless
to say everything worked a whole lot better afterward. i fixed everything
at once but it all go at once. inner handle froze then broke. someone tried
to break in, broke outer handle and window, then the latch seized up and
the rods bent.
You can find the white lithium grease in your local hardware store. It
comes in a can so that it’s easy to spray on hinges and anything that you

i have a 2006 chevy silverado and the driver’s window will not go up or
down what could be the problem? I tried replacing the driver window power

i have a 99 tahoe, the drivers side window rolls down sometimes and others
gets in a bind and looks like it may break the window. this vid will aid me
in getn it apart but what do i replace. what do look for. also what size
speakers in door so i can replace those while im in there
You should be able to just replace the motor if that’s the only thing that

We currently do not sell a window regulator for the rear door on that
truck. You could either use similar rivets to attach it back to the door or
some small 1/4 screws.
I have a 94 gmc n when i push the automatic lock button the passenger side
locks but the driver side doesnt it moves when u try to lock it but dont
lock it just budges a bit could it b sumthin is stuck or need new lock
motor??? Anything idea would b much apreciated before i take it apart cuz i
tried to look before but took me over an hour n could not have done it to
save my life get the clips off the window n lock buttons so i can fully
take off door pannel cuz u cant pull wire an everything o

@eramirez189 If you are using the hand remote that is how it works. Push
the button once and the driver door unlocks push it again all the doors
unlock. If it is not that simple then try replacing one of the door lock
actuators and see if that helps 1 door. If so replace them all.

I gotcha. Well it worked this morning. It tends to do this when it gets
really hot outside, it won’t function. But when it cools off it starts
working again. I’m going to grease up the track and hope for the best.

You may want to test the power going to the switch with a test light to see
if there’s power going to it. Also check the fuse to make sure that it’s
