Thank you SO SO much. I spent 4 hours trying to get to that drivers side one.
Thanks for watching. Another little trick to get those rear plugs back in is to put a piece or rubber gas line on the very end of the plug, it’s flexible, so as your placing the plug in the hole you can grab the rubber piece of gas line and twist it, to help get the plug back it. Kind of an old hot rodder trick. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Thanks for all the info you provide. Trying to work on my wife’s new to her Jimmy, and saw those driver’s side plug, ugh. Thanks for the tip! And love your store too. Always great parts at an even better price. Always check out your store before I go anywhere else!
You should be okay without them. They help to keep the water from splashing up into the engine. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Hello. I recently bought a Blazer and when I went to change the spark plugs I noticed those flaps that cover them are gone. Looks like someone tore them off. Are those flaps critical or can the car survive without it? Thanks.
You may want to check to see if there’s fuel getting to the motor. It could be a bad fuel regulator. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
I have a question about my blazer, it isnt starting and ive replace the fuel pump and filter and ignition module and cam position sensor and tuned it up. It will only start if i spray the throttle body with starting fluid but will not stay running. PLEASE HELP
I love 1AAuto. I’m going to start buying my parts from you when possible. Thank you so much for saving me hours of beating my head on the fenders!!!
That’s a great little trick, and one that I’ve used in the past.
It helped me to use and extension to hand start the plug, use my left hand to hold the plug and feel for the hole and use my right hand to slowly twist the end of the extension.
That steering column is a *BEEP*. I have a misfire now. i think i didnt thread it in all the way. Now for new spark plug wires regapping them plugs 😀
I used a small rubber hose over the end of the spark plug to thread it back in , that works also …
I wish that I knew how hard it was to change these out BEFORE I bought an S10.
Go to an auto parts store and get a 5/8th inch spark plug socket with built in ujoint. It is 3/4 inch shorter than a socket with a ujoint adapter. Works great on middle driver’s side plug.
We used a socket and an extention on the middle one, and on the very end plug we used some pliers to get the boot off.
on plug 3, what tool did you use in that tight spot to get it out ?
Pretty good little trick. I’ve done that on these trucks too.
A tip on inserting a new plug into the #5 hole where the steering column is an obstacle. I use a 6″ piece of fuel line hose, I insert the spark plug tip where the plug wire would attach into the fuel line, it should be a fairly tight fit. I am able to feed the plug into the hole, the hose is both firm enough and flexible enough that it works great in threading the plug into the hole without any difficulty.
Yes it should be the same.
is the same with the tbi system?
If it has the 4.3 in it, you could apply it you your Blazer.
would this work on a 2000 chevy blazer?
Thank you. This video helped a ton!
You should be able to remove it as the video shows. You could try to a longer extention, or maybe even a swivel socket. If the tire’s in your way it may make it a little easier to work in there if you remove it. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com
Hey i wish you can tell me what to do. I cant take the middle spark plug. The bar wont let me stick the racket
Also my A-10 blazer runs better on E3 diamond fires, not the delco plugs. Get better mileage and power off E3 diamond fire
It could be a bad spark plug or even a bad cap or rotor. You may also want to check the spark plug wires to see if they’re arching out. If you have a check engine light on, you should have the code pulled, as this will more than likely tell you what’s causing the issue. Hope this helps you out.
These Blazers are picky about their spark plugs. It is best to use AC Delco plugs. I had the same problem on my 1998, using the same plugs you got, but once I put new AC Delco plugs in it ran like a dream. Same thing with my cousin’s 1999.
I do agree with 1aauto about the wires and the plug gap, but you really HAVE to use AC Delco plugs.
Wish I would I would of had this video 3 years ago when I was 14 I broke three plugs on that second cylinder on the drivers side
