My 2007 Civic EX’s 5MT seems to like it’s fluid changed at 36k miles. Not really sure when the maintenance minder is going to tell me to change it at (It’s never come on with that code) but 2nd gear’s synchro seems to get a little crunch-happy around 40k, but is instantly better with a drain and refill of fresh MTF. Right now I’ve been using Genuine Honda MTF, but I might have to give that GM Synchromesh a try next time I change it.
Would you recommend that fluid for a Ford? Specifically a 96 Lincoln Town Car.
I like your videos and all, but i wish you would get a hoist, my back and neck hurt just watching you
I have a question! 2anyone. I have a 3kgt vr4 & the fuel pump went out. I got one from some 3kgt sl. The fuel pump is smaller i got it to work &car starts. Can i drive it with a smaller pump or will something f up???
Why not change the rear axle fluid as well?
you do know that Eric can’t pick and choose what kind of vehicles/repair jobs come into his shop. sure we’d all like unique repair videos… but that isn’t gonna happen most of the time. The cars that visit his shop will have the same basic problems thats already been covered by Eric. what can he do?
You watched it. That’s your problem
there must be a thousand vids on youtube regarding transmission fluid replace. Even ETCG did it once before. This channel has evolved into a TV weekly series show with little substance.
As a sub, stay relevant, get fresh material
This is why I love manuals. So much less finicky about fluids and everything that autos. Just an easy drain and fill.
Is that synchromesh a ‘transmission fluid’ or more of a gear oil? Would it be something you can put in an automatic?
It kind of makes sense, the resemblance is pretty good on some makes. I’m in southern PA, and usually it’s just a Diff, or a Rear. Unless you have 4wd, then it’s a Front Rear and a Rear Rear, which sounds stupid when you say it, but everyone just goes with it.
Think you mean 16mm, Eric, not 18. 5/8″ = 15.875mm; 18mm is halfway between 11/16 and 3/4 — not very close.
Probably should’ve bought the metric set (more useful elsewhere) and used the 16mm! 🙂
My ’91 S-10 has 17mm allen fill/drain plugs on the transmission (they are a snug fit), so a 2001 is almost certainly metric.
All manual transmissions have fluid in them.
“GM got it right.”
As someone who just purchased a used GM, I’m happy to hear you say that.
Yeah where I’m from some folks refer to the differential as a “Hog Head”.
Kind of looks like a pigs head?
Hahaha “Just keep filling till it comes out the hole” sorry I had to xD
Actually it would have taken more than needed with the front up in the air.
i think they all do so gears can moove smooth
I thought manual transmissions don’t have transmission fluid. are there any manual transmissions made after 2000 that don’t use transmission fluid?
i liked your enthusiasm in this video eric! very fun to watch! keep it up and thanks! stay dirty!
Good Job Eric.
hey eric i might be wrong but you did a bad thing i didnt see you put stands under the rear of the truck am i right or did i just miss that little bit thanks jason
Hey Eric if you ever work on European transmissions they mostly use 75w80 the more powerfull one’s 75w90. and pretty mutch all are full till overflow mostly around the 3.5 to 4l.
Hello i just got a 92 accord and im having an issue with it stalling every time i come to a stop. I’ve cleaned and change the iacv and still no luck what els can be causing this thanks.
I wish I could put my life into fast forward like when Eric is working the floor jack.
