Just want to say you can get a thing not sure what its called to bolt the
ring gear onto, it just lets the axle shaft in and there are no spider
gears and DO NOT let any diff action
i have a 1995 cam z28 i changed the gear oil and found a 3/4″ peice of
cross shaft laying in the bottom of my dif. i drove the car for about 18
miles after replacing the gasket and dif cover, i found a new shat made by
richmand gears on summit. its on its way. i’ll be replacing this part, but
my ?? to you is. How the hell did 3/4 of this break off “the bottom” not
where the bolt go’s though and if everything looks good should it be
alright? the carrier has spring like your aubourn so i think thats what im
dealing with i have a 6 speed. thanks any help is allways apprec.
82-98(excluding 97 ss and firehawk slp option, those came with hd torsen)
came with an auburn unit with the G80 code on the service parts
identification sticker. 99-02 came with the torsen. Not all the time but if
ur v6 f body came with rear disc brakes, it also came with posi.
The gm additive is a friction modifier. The additive basically keeps the
posi unit from chattering when making tight turns(e.g. u turns or parallel
parking). I dnt know which posi init u have but if I assume u have an
auburn or an eaton limited slip then synthetic anything was and is a big
mistake. If ur unit lays rubber with 1 tire then both eventually then its a
whooped unit.
Good stuff bro! i have a Detriot tru traxx posi in my ride and its damn
good.. Have heard of it? Check it out when you get it a chance. It has the
worm gears in it also
Say Ace u wus sayn that the f-bodies hade limited slip 93-98, what bout the
v6s? both 4th generations and 2nd gen. Reason askin is I hav a 96 firebird
and a 79berlinetta and didnt know if i should snatch one of the ones I have
or go searching for parts
@2kbowzer6 if you have a 7.5″ rear and need a 28 spline unit 93-98 f bodies
have auburns 99-02 f bodies have torsens. if u have access to a pull it
yourself yard, u can save $ that way.
You have to remove the pinion shaft bolt then you have to remove the pinion
Cross shaft. After that you push in the axle and remove the c clip. Once
the c clip is out the shaft should come right out.
I put a 96 impala ss in my old school lac so i could have disc brakes all
the way around and posi. Ive been through a few rearends now so is there
anything I can pull from junyard that will fit my rear thats stronger or is
my only option to order an actual posi unit from summit or jegs or
somehwere. Thanks
Say ace, the additive u put into ur rear end, how big a roll do it make? i
take off on a one wheel wonder. burn fa about 60 yards. then the posi
finally kick in an burn fa another 10 feet? sum peep tell me i shouldnt
have used lucas synthetic. let me know sumthing man. 3.73. 10 bolt posi.
If you are a Master Certified Auto Tech (which to me means nothing) then
why the hell are you asking such a simple question? And shouldn’t you be
smart enough to, I don’t know, put the car in neutral when trying to turn
the wheels? Continuing on, if your Camaro is a base, it did not come with a
Posi. Some one could have added it, but you’ll never know until you put
that Master Who Gives a Shit Certification to work. Could also have the Y87
package, but then it’s not a base Camaro now is it?
@Yaboyace, you will like the (“Detroit True Trac”) better than all those ma
fuckas’ They is the strongest ones for a street car and always “posi up”
and they only like $350-$450 bucks!!! You buy the Detroit True Trac from
Eaton now because Eaton bought out the Detroit’s company so they owns them
all!!! Fuck that Auburn and fuck that stock GM torsen shit, Trust me ma
fuck, put that Detroit in and forget that shit, there is no noise, no
adjusting, no clutch packs or any bull shit with that unit
Hey dude I burnt up the carrier in my 87 SS Elcamino it’s an auburn unit.
Where can I get a rebuild kit? I also have a new Gov-loc unit like in your
video but I will have to get a new ring and pinion to fit it. Any ideas? GM
dealer said the kit is not available anymore.Thank’s. my E-mail is casey66ss@gmail.com
The question was what type is in my car. I don’t wish to take apart my car
to find out if nothing is broken. and there is no Identifying marks on my
rear diff housing at all. and in neutral it still takes all my strength to
turn the wheel with only one wheel off the ground because its clutched
Posi. DUH My question was which one of these diffs do I have. and it is a
base model. I asked because If he knew then I wouldn’t have to take mine
apart to figure it out. you misunderstood me I guess
The only thing you’d have to take off is the inspection cover on the
housing. 10 bolts and 15 minutes of your time to get it off, check it out,
refilled with new oil, and back on. You are also saying “..all my strength
to turn the wheel with only one wheel off the ground..”. It’s not hard to
turn because it’s a “clutched posi”, it’s hard because you have to have
BOTH tires off the ground. I have a clutched posi in my 93 Z and I can turn
it with minimal effort in N, both wheels off the ground.
I have a 98 Camaro. base model standard V6. when I had it on jack stands
doing the brakes in park with both wheels off the ground with the parking
brake off of course. It took everything i had to turn those wheels by hand
they were very tight. and only one wheel would turn. the opposite wheel
didn’t move. I didn’t think the Base model V6 came with posi. i thought
maybe the previous owner put something in there. so What do you think is in
there? a stock Auburn from GM or something else?
Wasup man. I’m interested n buying that auburn posi.. I might b wrong but u
stay in the bay..?? Or LA ?? I’m out here n the east bay CA n been lookin
for a posi
No base V6 Camaro got a Posi. Y87 packaged cars, however, did. The wheels
were hard to turn because you where in park. The wheels aren’t meant to
move while in park. If you were to put it in neutral or even a forward
gear, it’d take less to turn the wheels. With an open diff, the tires will
spin in opposite directions. With a Posi both will spin in the same
direction.
say ace do auburn make one with no clutch all gears? that way they dont
wear out as fast. got a 10 bolt an it came with the first one on the left
but i think it needs adjusting r sumthin. was wanting to replace it with
one that willnot wear out as fast. this is a everyday driver with 22 in
rims the 10 bolt came out of a 89 tahoe.
That was some funny ass shit.. Tell it like it is… Lol
Im trying to make my bop 8.2 posi….what u suggest
how did u make the 28 spline posi work in your g body
Just want to say you can get a thing not sure what its called to bolt the

Spool…
I feel u on that I’m from Ga and I hear that shit all the time !!
Auborn posi or eaton posi?? Or the yukon posi???
82-98(excluding 97 ss and firehawk slp option, those came with hd torsen)

True, the Eaton Gov loc is actually a locking differential, but when not
under load, its open and has clutches to detect slippage.

To pull the bearing yes. To pull the axle no.

NICE VIDEO MANE! GOOD STRAIGHT FORWARD INFORMATION
How do you get the 28spline auburn to work with cutlass/26spline axels?
Cuz I gotta 87 ss my the c clip keep coming out what you thank the problem
is
You have to remove the pinion shaft bolt then you have to remove the pinion
Cross shaft. After that you push in the axle and remove the c clip. Once
the c clip is out the shaft should come right out.
maybe someone added it before you purchesed it???just saying
How do u adjust the arbourn
Thank you.

No special tool required?
cant adjust em pull it out trow it away buy a new one id recommend a eaton
clutch
I dont know personally, but if you call Auburn and speak to Nancy, she can
point you in the right direction.
the fisrt dif isnt limited slip its considered a actual locker by the
manufacture and gm
g-lock and aurburn both sell rebuild kits??? idk man i know for a fact the
first dif he mentioned is………
I Got Headers, Hyphertech Performance chip,Cold Air Intake…its Cool But
Without That Posi,It Aint Cool..lol

I am a master certified auto technician. I know all of this. and My Base
Camaro absolutely has a limited slip diff in it. i’m just not sure which
one.
this has got to be one of the shittyest videos on youtube

the clutches dont detect they lock….it has a mechanical system with
weights and springs thats detects 70-100 rpm axle shaft speed difference
@Yaboyace, you will like the (“Detroit True Trac”) better than all those ma

im slappin a auburn in my 83 regal, do i have to change my diff bearing or
will it fit??
Yes i have heard of the tru trac, i just installed 1 like 2 weeks ago, i
like the design better than the torsen, its a good deal.
Hey dude I burnt up the carrier in my 87 SS Elcamino it’s an auburn unit.

Unless the auburn is brand new, it should already have bearings on it. Just
checked to see if the bearings are in good shape.
No need in leaving bitchmade remarks

move more
@citydriver, u r right, stock gm units are not rebuildable. I called Auburn
directly and bummed out.
