Should you upgrade your stock trans cooler? C’mon now. That’s not a serious question is it? Stock everything is trash. Upgrade everything you can.
The torque converters are weak you need to buy a billet torque converter. That thermal bypass in the winter your transmission never warms up
Well how did you transmission temp worked out for you during your towing 300 miles.
Luckily my 2013 6L80 has just open lines run through its thin block. Not a large block with that thermostat setup.
Hi, I have a 2016 Chevy Silverado LTZ 5.3 L with the eight speed transmission. Would this work and what are the two part number for the gaskets for the two little ones that go on the line and the other one that fits up to the transmission. I've heard people see replace those when doing the bypass. I was trying to see the part numbers on your video, but it's hard to see.
I just looked into this earlier today
did they ever fix the torque converter problem
Glad to hear you changed the terms fluid and filter. Running excessively high transmission fluid temperatures can shorten the longevity of your transmission.
I remove mine also I told her 8000 pound RV and on average I’m about 40° less the truck don’t have many miles on it for a 2015. I had the life of the transmission check that my transmission shop. They said it had a lot of life I had them change the Torque converter clutch command from coming on in second gear to fifth gear. I don’t know why they think the torque converter clutch needs to come on a second gear? That’s where they shutter is coming from when these torque converters start to fail.
How's it held up
SB 21-NA-199 Most dealers have them now, free one time replace for listed problems, including "Customer Concern Not Duplicated" (CCND). New ones stamped "70". Read the bulletin above, not the BS on the web!
That is the kit I bought.
Just be sure to get the gasket and 2 O-rings at the dealer prior.
Mine is running nice and cool.
The Mishimoto trans cooler has this included in the kit. Truly an all inclusive and clear install videos. I'm cruising in Texas heat at 125°
Anyone done this on the ram 2500?
Great you did all that but you put the wrong fluid in it.
I currently run 218-224. I am waiting on the PPE block in the mail.
So, what constitutes excessive temperature? I often see mine rising into the 170s. Is that okay or too high? And I guess it's still unproven that the heat is really the problem that trashes the 6L80/90 transmissions VC failures?
Why could the interior of this thermostat just be removed so the fluid could pass straight thru? Is that a possibility?
Pro tip: buy a $15 hand operated transfer pump and stick the hose into the dipstick tube and remove as much of the fluid form the pan as possible and you won't have suck a messy pan removal.
