I think I would have removed that heater hose behind the
alternator… maybe it was a cable to the alternator, or I would end up
lying awake all night worrying if the gaskets were knocked out of place.

Looks pretty clean under the hood. How long does the silicone need to set
before turning the engine on? Thanks for the video!

Great video I have 03 GMC Sonoma 4.3, I smell anti freeze form exhaust and

this truck before i start doing some server damage i know this is a tough
question but time is not on my side right now I have 2 weeks and drive 500
miles a week before vac and I would like to start this then. How long is
this project about i do take my time. hopefully not to brake more stuff, i

im doing the job now on a 05 gm 6.0…2500hd my question is ..,’ is it
normal for 2 pistons on the passenger side in the back to be high at the
same time..?.. the driverside is staggered normaly .. whats the right/safe
way to rotate the motor with no heads so I can be sure that piston is still
attached and end up whare I should be to put the heads back on.. im used
to ohc;) pushrods are not my strong side .

robinsonsauto says:

Good questions, this one I had previously switched out I go through a
complete flush process, would recommend doing the same if you decide to
switch, as far as oil pump lining up, one one think it should, however it
just seems to be off slightly, its not much barely turn it back just a tad
then it will fall in, sometimes it will go in without turning

robinsonsauto says:

Thank you, lots of older models came with valley gasket seals, they had
issue with them and most mechanics would not take the chance re installing
do to come backs, therefore they started using silicone as you seen me do,
and as you noticed the manufacturer uses silicone as well they started
doing the same

robinsonsauto says:

awesome thank you, will do

robinsonsauto says:

man that sucks, go with the metal back gasket i had better luck

estrelladelnorte1308 says:

thumbs up!

aaron brandstatter says:

i have the same engine only mine is 1993. the back ports on my gasket are
blocked off. is this normal?

stuzman52 says:

Nice work Will and I like the little chart popping up showing the sequence
for the tightening of the bolts. So on this engine, there are no end
gaskets to install like some of the other GM models out there?

frank hager says:

can you swap out DEXCOOL from any car just by draining it and refilling it
with the green stuff? and when u had to turn the oil-pump counter clockwise
a quarter turn, as you pulled it out wouldnt it have turned with the
distributor aswell so that all you had to do was stab it back in and it
should be lined up for you?

Nigel Gipson says:

Thank you Sooooo much for this video sir. I have a coolant leak in my 96
Chevy vortex 350 5.7. I thought it was the first intake manifold gasket at
the top, never thought to check the lower gasket. I’ll try it an see what
happens.
