Benjamin Martinez says:

It does everything it stops as soon as it starts but the security light
never comes on but it acts just like that but I have other lights coming on
like the odometer and the abs now it’s the oil and something else I’m not
sure if this would be where to start

tapesyndrome says:

I need some help on the ignition on my 68 Camaro. I took the tumbler out
this weekend to make an adjustment to the ignition switch and when I went
to reinstall the tumbler a small clip fell out along with a few very small
springs. At the time, I could only find 2 springs so I reinstalled them and
put the tumbler back in the switch. Since then I found the other springs
and realized those were supposed to be installed as well. The key will not
turn and I can’t get the tumbler out. HELP!

DormanProducts says:

We may need a little more detail on the issue. Does the car crank but not
start? No crank at all? etc. Feel free to call our tech line at
1-800-868-5777 ext. 5330 and we’ll be happy to help you with your issue.

Thank you do much…..

JahKahLinn says:

what if i cant turn the key

QuantumPhysika says:

its a 2004 pontiac grand am v6 3.6. The part is from autozone LC63730. Well
now it went back to not starting after I put my radio stuff back so I’m
going through the code learn procedure. The security doesn’t flash though,
it stays lit, even when doing the procedure

DormanProducts says:

@KandyGrl761 The Dorman part only solves the security light issue. If your
key is stuck, then you may have to replace the whole assembly. Contact your
local Service Technician for details.

Nancy Dean says:

i need help i have a 2001 chev blazer and sometimes will not start until
you move the lever back and forth then it will start only in park then it
may be ok for 4-8 days then its back again, all been tuned up, new fuel
filter, new radiator, new water pump, new map sensor new safety swith on
the tranny, is this an ignition switch needing to replace

DormanProducts says:

@deannan614 The symptoms you are experiencing do not indicate a failed
ignition switch or passlock lock sensor. The moving of the lever back and
forth to get the vehicle started is most likely a symptom of a failed
neutral safety switch, misaligned shift linkage or a failing shift
interlock solenoid. I recommend having a technician diagnose your vehicle
as I am unable to accurately diagnose a vehicle without looking at it.

mattcrrn says:

how did he fix it i have this problem now

Alex Pettigrew says:

will this help if the ignition switch is stuck in the on position?!!!

DormanProducts says:

@latinseduction1 There could be several contributing factors to your
problem, such as bad wiring, ignition switch, or a faulty ground. It would
be difficult to pinpoint the culprit without physically diagnosing the
vehicle. I suggest looking at the ignition switch first as this component
is a common failure item.

DormanProducts says:

This video is for the GM Passlock sensor case. These will generally throw
the security light on in the dash and give you a no start condition. If you
can provide our tech dept your year make and model as well as the issue you
are having, we will be happy to help.We can be reached at 1-800-868-5777

Da1anonlyFATBOY says:

does this work for 2000-01 Grand am

DynastyQg9 says:

How do u know which is bad the case or the cylinder?

mrggaitan29 says:

@DormanProducts Thanks for the video these has all ready save me some
money. Not to mention i have all ready changed a couple of crankshaft
sensors with no luck. Off i go to buy a new ignition switch. thank you,

DormanProducts says:

Yes, this video was actually done on a Grand Am

Dwayne Washington says:

I’ve replaced the ignition housing on my 2002 grand am.. the car started
right up, but the security light is still on solid.. I performed the reset
and it’s still on solid.. any suggestions?

DormanProducts says:

Unfortunately, we do not offer any parts for the ignition system on your
vehicle. In reference to the push to start, we do not have a procedure
available.

yoAmoAmiJesus cristo te ama says:

my igniton was replaced and now the truck wont start up! its a jimmy gmc
1998 i tried almost everything,it wants to start up but it wont stay on,it
just keeps killing the battery.the security light is off, please help!!!!

Clynton Ashdown says:

I am having a problem with my 2002 GMC sierra, the secuity light is coming
on while driving once and a while and once every three months the truck
will start and immediately die. would the ignition switch be the same as
the one shown in this video? i have got it diagnosed by the delearship and
they say it’s the ignition switch. Does this sound accurate? any info would
be great, thanks.

DormanProducts says:

@sorizaga The new keys will not work for your doors – you can take the
cylinder to an OEM dealer and they can recode the ignition cylinder to work
with your door keys

XRATEDASSA5S1N says:

Is putting the key in and putting it to the on position neccesary? My
problem is, is the key wont turn the ignition at all

DormanProducts says:

@Anthony1999gtp The parts are interchangeable but they will need to be
relearned to the new car.

DormanProducts says:

@NiNjAxASSASiN While we can’t say exactly what is wrong with your car
without seeing it, we believe an Ignition Switch Actuator Pin, part number
924-704 could fix this problem rather than replacing the whole Steering
Column Assembly. We have an installation video for this part, it’s called:
Wrangler, Liberty, PT Cruiser, Neon Ignition Switch Actuator Pin Repair.

Rob Haskins says:

sometimes when i go to start my impala it trips the security feature and it
wont start. would relacing the part shown in this video fix that??

DormanProducts says:

thanks for the recommendation. When we update this video, we will keep that
in mind.

DormanProducts says:

@encaputado We would recommend that you tap the end of the key with a
hammer to try to loosen the tumblers. If that doesn’t work, the cylinder
will need to be drilled out. It is recommended that this is done by a
professional.

NiNjAxASSASiN says:

i have a question.when i turn the swutch in my car everything turns on.when
i turn it to the run postion i get nothing.I dnt even hear a crank..what do
u think my problems is?my dealer is telling me that in oder to fix this i
have to replace the whole steering column which would cost $1100 which i
dnt have.Help please!!thx

NiNjAxASSASiN says:

@DormanProducts its 2005 dodge neon srt4 with 115k on it.My dealer is
telling me that there’s a piece that connects the cylinder and the ignition
switch and that its broken and cannot be repaired. They say that the whole
steering column needs to be replaced. At 1st it would just lagg a bit to
start and sometimes i needed to turn the switch a bit hard for it to
start, now it wont start at all.when i turn the switch, all the eletrical
componets turn on but on run position, i get nothing.

Anthony Gray says:

I have just bought a 2001 impala it was a bank repo. I have a 1999 Grand am
parts car. with the same ignition Could i switch the two? will the computer
learn the new key?

tapesyndrome says:

@tapesyndrome I bought a new switch and tumbler but I can’t get the old
switch out of the dash! Any tricks that I can use besides hacking away at
it until it gives? I would rather not get to aggressive with it because of
the fresh paint job on the dash. I’m not sure what I should do.

Wolvzblood says:

Will this fix the HVAC fan, temp pod, on star, and cruise light on problem.
I heard that the switch is the problem but would like your opinion. Thanks

TASHUN1980 says:

@DormanProducts Ok,I apologize but the cylinder, and switch were both
installed.I had it put on a diagnostic machine, and they said that the park
lock cable was broken @ ignition switch.I didn’t do the install myself,I
paid a mechanic,so I didn’t mean in my previous msg that I did it directly
my apologies. So,can you tell me what this means please? Thanx

Biffcheese Spinoccoli says:

Why the hell would they put the ignition switch behind the friggin’ radio?!?

DormanProducts says:

@Wolvzblood The Ignition Switch will fix the problems you mentioned above,
not the passlock sensor. In a few weeks Dorman will be coming out with the
Ignition Switch, part number 924-701.
