I have a question: I have a 2003 Tahoe and a 2006 Tahoe. My 2003 has XM
channels on the head unit when I press the Band button, but, the 2006 does
not (only FM1, FM2 & AM). Does this mean that my 2006 does not have an XM
tuner in the head unit? It has the shark fin antenna on the roof but no
module in the glove box. Would I have to buy a new head unit to get XM or
just an XM tuner to activate the channels on the head unit? Thanks in
advance!

nice video I have a xm radio in my 66 ford galaxie is there anyway to
connect it direct to my stock antenna is there an after market cable to
hook to the xm tuner to the stock anteena??

I believe they do make an adapter to use a Sirius SC-C1 with an adapter on
the factory headunit yes.

cashdudehomie says:

Hmm… Would using the SC-C1 in place of my factory SiriusXM receiver allow
me to subscribe under a different ESN/radio ID number? I think it would…
I’m trying to find a work around. I can’t transfer my lifetime subscription
to a factory installed radio or it is locked to that unit forever.

rtkota5point9 says:

Glad it could help!! Not only does it save the trouble of running it. It
keeps the roof nice and clean

rtkota5point9 says:

Well you wouldn’t have to buy an extra part anyways as the satellite tuner
would come with the antenna. This just saves you from having to find a
place on the roof and run the wire for the antenna. Just keeps it cleaner
on the outside. You still need to buy a satellite tuner.

cashdudehomie says:

Can you take out the GM factory installed SiriusXM tuner and use an
aftermarket tuner, with the factory head unit still functioning exactly the
same? Is there an adapter?

rtkota5point9 says:

Using an SC-C1 would require a transfer of your subscription as it is a
different S.I.D. number. Whether or not they will allow you to transfer
your lifetime subscription I’m not sure. Since they don’t offer lifetime
anymore they might give you a hard time about it. I’m sure they want to try
and get you out of that plan any way possible.

Thank you very much for this video! I was searching all over the place on
the interweb trying to come up with an alternative to routing the new
antenna under my floorboards and eventually to the roof. I did this for my
’07 Hummer H2, just FYI, and your video was invaluable and right on! I KNEW
there had to be a way, but all the “experts” didn’t seem to know what I was
talking about! Thanks again!

Sweet. One less part I’m going to have to buy when I upgrade my 2006 H2 to
a Kenwood DDX-770
