More of Subaru Mike please! Preferably with a DOHC Subaru engine!

Oh yeah, about the trans drain plug – back in high school when I worked at
an autoshop another high school coop accidentally pulled that plug instead
of the one on the oil pan, needless to say the tech he worked with was not
happy.

One of my relatives had the shift solenoid problem. I could literally floor
the throttle and the car would not accelerate. The car itself was worth
$750 and was leaking oil like a sieve so it went to a junkyard.

floeticdeath says:

I went to speedy transmissions, they told me that my transmissions shot
cause I had metal in the oil pan. and the code was solenoid E on an 03
corolla. So I went to various transmissions places and they said my
transmission was fine, a little dirty that what may have been causing it to
stick. sure enough I flush the tranny fluid and it was the tranny fluid.

Not that my issue applies to theis video, but mike is right. Most shops
will tell you your transmission is shot just to get the bill to repair it.
As a consumer, make sure you shop around and try to find honest places to
give you an opinion. Thanks aamco.

This is a great video and Mike is some mechanic, and so humble, Have to
give Mike first place #1 and Carey, have to give you #2 for camera and
narration, just kidding.Had my trans oil changed when I was 2500 miles from
home and it leaked, I took it back and the mechanic wouldn’t admit he
overtightened the oil pan even though the pan bolts were so tight, (impac
tight) the pan was bent and the gasket bulging out, He was going to fix it
but after seeing what he had done I said no thanks and waited until I could
do it myself. Mike is a real craftsman.

Eric Brunhammer says:

Awesome video, very detailed. I do have a truck with the same
transmission, and I installed a drain plug kit the transmission pan when I
did the filter kit, but you can also buy a brand new pan with a drain plug
in them. There are other available, but here’s one from Amazon

Carey never gets this dirty making computers! xD

Kris Burke says:

The only thing I hate about Chevy and Holden (I’m an Aussie) is the fact
that the 4L60E never came with a drain plug, sucks trying to replace the
fluid out of the auto. $3000 US is a little steep for a rebuild, I had mine
done with all performance gear in it for $2000 AU installed.

floeticdeath says:

haha, carey your’e a funny guy, man!

” That’s a nice shot of the back of your head. That’s going to be helpful
for identifying your body later.”

Made me laugh my ass off. LOL.

I’ve got a 2005 Blazer. Although I really don’t drive it much… just to
get to work and back, maybe 2-3 miles each direction.

Need more Subaru Mike :P

Michael Williams says:

I just had the same with my mazda, the transmission shop told me 2400, the
car not worth that much, they wanted to rebuild the hole thing. I did my
research found out it was the solenoid pack which I replace for $200 and
didn’t have to remove the transmission

soundwaves007 says:

I had the same exact problem with my GMC Sonoma – the reason that problem
happened was because the engine overheated while i was on the road / a bad
radiator cap drained the coolant. Whats cool is the OBD reader can show
what to fix most of the time. Yeah 4 figures is way too much for what
basically looks more like a transmission fluid change.

Juan Hernandez says:

lol, I knew you could work on cars but I wasn’t expecting a car repair, Aim
for another 100,000 miles. my parent’s ’99 dodge grand caravan has 280,000
miles

Excellent Video! This model of Chevrolet Blazer was available new in the

Old but still nice. Best to do repairs yoursel if you can.

b22chris says:

That’s pretty funny. I drive a 96 blazer 2 door red. 230,000 miles and only
replace minor things like breaks, oil, etc. car goes forever.
