In this video I’ll be showing you how to replace an EGR valve on a GM 3.8L V-6 series 2. It’s a very simple task but having a visual demonstration before getting into it ads a bit more confidence! Note the vehicle featured in the video is an 01 Pontiac Bonneville 3.8L. This procedure should be similar if not the same for most GM 3.8L Series 2 Engines. Verify this in your repair manual.

On my 3800 S2, I on occasion get a CEL and misfire. When I run the code it is Multiple Misfires Detected and EGR Stuck Open. After giving the car a whole new ignition system (wired, plugs, coils, control module, crankshaft sensor, etc) and still get those issues, think the EGR is really the culprit? It's about $150 part, and I have thought about changing it before, but what I want to know is how can you actually know when they really are going bad? I'm sure another 3800 owner has been through this. Great motor by the way, mine has 167k on the clock and overall still performs great! Just trying to keep her running her best.

I have a 2008 Pontiac grand prix 3.8 motor after coming to several stops and accelerating it will slightly shutters and after that it's fine. I have clean the air filter the throttle, did some injector fluid cleaner and keeps doing the same thing. No lights ON on the dash Please help.
Ok my question is about the bracket where the egr solenoid is. If i put a chain around that bracket for an engine bar, will it hold the engine and transmission when i drop the subframe

Thanks for the video. I have a 97 oldsmobile 88 and getting the p1406 code and decided to change the EGR valve but still get the code, I had to use the same gasket cause the new one was a bit small. What do you think It might be? Thanks
