Some1 tried to steal my 02 Chevy 1500 .auto shop said I need to replace the ignition housing and the key ignition. Trying to get me for $1,100 but I got a guy who can fix it. But the shop said something about reprogramming it. Is this what they meant?

My '99 Astro has been sporadically not starting for a year. It once happened two days in a row but it can go months without this no start issue. Found another suggestion online to only do the 10 minute reset one time…not three…and it works. Wish I had known about this before I took it to a shop where they replaced the fuel pump last June 🙁
