This realy work thankx… u saved me alot of cash….

Wendy Jenkins says:

Raveguy821, u can just cut the wire. The security light will just stay on showing that passlock is disabled.

Wendy Jenkins says:

This was very helpful. Had the same issue on my 2004 Pontiac gran am. Should mention to use a spst switch. Thanks again.

Lvl27Haunter says:

i have this issue for the first time. 99 malibu, the passlock is activated and the lock light does not blink or turn off even after 30 mins.i bought a new battery thinking that was the problem but no. please help.

Kerri Knopp says:

What if you’re doing this cuz the car wont start? Then what?

sayian2k says:

ty this damn chevy equinox keep doing this and getting on my nerves

raveguy821 says:

So would I be able to cut the wire and then add the toggle switch later on?

Jonathan Blake says:

I wish i had seen this video 8 years ago. Now i know how to fix this death trap of a car. Thanks

My Malibu had the Theft Lock problem every couple months for a few days (inconvenient and dangerous!). I recently tried this fix, and it completely fixed the problem. The only issue we had was accessing the ignition cylinder. Had to do a little remodeling to access the yellow wire I needed (cut part of the plastic separating the radio from the ignition). Not surprised that Wagslick didn’t show struggling to access the ignition cylinder 🙂 Great $20 fix. Thanks for posting.

Acordionista509 says:

did you need to use any resistors

Shavonn Corbett says:

I have a 2003 alero will this work on it?

Shavonn Corbett says:

I have a 3

wagslick says:

I did have the car turned off for some parts because I had to remove the key before I could remove the dash panel. I had the car running as I cut the yellow wire. I’m not a mechanic, just a guy who follows directions. That’s what the directions told me to do.

Robert Knight says:

Wagslick I’d like some clarification if you don’t mind. I have this problem and it seems to be at the point where any time my car doesn’t start on the first turn of the ignition, the theft system starts blinking and I have to go through the 10 minute reset. My question is, you say in your video that the “car must be running” to do what you did, but obviously your car is turned off at some point in the process because I see that your RPM and all other gauges are flat. Please explain.

bravadomizzou says:

I have found that pushing the gas slightly when starting will make it start more often.

Francis Capone says:

How come the Malibu has to be running when you bypass it???

Dornice Cannon says:

Will this work on a 2001 Malibu?

luiggir6r says:

Worked on my 05 Impala Thanks!!!

TonyB19681 says:

Did not work for me ,still had to wait 10 mins to start car !

obrikis73 says:

so i did this and my car starts and then it stalls….why?

LivingThoughts says:

This fix worked for me on my 2004 Malibu. However I didn’t understand the logic behind having the car on while doing this. To me it doesn’t sound safe to be cutting electrical wires with the car on. So I disconnected the battery first, then followed the rest of the steps.

It was just my luck that the antitheft system activated on my very first crank after installing the fix. I flipped the switch to the off position and re-cranked and it fired right up. easy breezy.

buckshots500 says:

i have that same problem

kinglineman79 says:

Sorry, but does the car need to be on when I cut the yellow wire? Unfortunatley the key in your video keeps dissapearing and reappearing lol

akcars123 says:

Hey wagslick, my light keeps flashing and it won’t stop so I can get the thing started, will it work if I did it without starting the car? Please help I have to get to work.

Andy Vawter says:

wagslick when you do the steps in this video does your car have to be on in order for this to work?

G-man Hern says:

Toyota only accepts problems that are safety related, they don’t want to take chances of a big lawsuit, but they are not saying anything about the big problem on the 2007 year model of the Camry with the 2.4 that has a big oil consumption problem, I have seen them all over the place, I believe its a defect on the valve stem seals but I am not 100% sure yet, also the engine block is now made of aluminum and the head bolt threads will strip if you try to do a head gasket replacement job.

wagslick says:

If you just cut yellow wire, car will work but you will forever have a theft light on your dash lit up.

Maria Rendon says:

Question: if i ut the yellow wire.. Will that work? I have a 2000 chevy malibu.. ?

Desert082693 says:

So do you know what would happen if you just cut the wire and leave it like that

Brian Howard says:

This does work. The video makes the wire cut look like it’s two wires that is cut but you only cut the yellow wire. Don’t cut the white wire. Don’t forget to leave the car running while you do this. The guy at the GM dealership said he had no quick fix for this problem and that it was a common problem. This is the cheapest and easiest fix I have found on the web. 2004 Chevy Impala

Brian Howard says:

This worked on my 2004 Chevy Impala ls. 3.8 . I followed this procedure as outlined 2 weeks ago and I’ve had no problems since. Before this fix, I went for nearly a year with no starts and having to go thru the click and wait game. thank you so much for sharing this with us.

Jacky L. says:

are you sure its just “ON” ? I putted the key in ignition for 15mins and it still didnt start …
