In this video I’ll be fixing a cluster that came out of a 2003 Chevy Silverado. It’s a bit different from my usual auto body repair videos, but I figured I’d through something different into the mix. This cluster had a weird problem with the bottom screen that I was able to repair. This type of a fix would apply to repairing speedometers our of 2003, 2004 and 2005 chevy Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon, Sierra, Hummer H2 and Cadillac Escalade. Hope this video is helpful to some folks out there.
I have 04,Suburban 1500 with steering controls, my message center is stuck with Spanish language scrolling.
Is my problem related to the IC you replaced ? I’ve isolated the green board and cleaned it, yet the Message Center won’t reset.
2ndly what’re the pins numbers of your rear connector to power up the board at my work bench. Right now I work on the board and take it to my vehicle to test it.
Any way you can let me know what wires power the cluster so I can do this repair myself? I can get a harness from the junk yard.
2004 chey suburban…I'm having issues with my cluster. Sometimes works and sometimes it won't help please!!!
Wow your good broo I do auto body work and full paint restoration chip gard restore rims and much more but when I was fixing my tahoe z71 cluster was hard for me but I got it to work your video was so fucking easy in my book you are good bro
I've replaced 3 stepper motors on my Sons 2004 Silverado and the RPM Gauge is still giving us fits. I think I am going to pull it off and clean it up like you did in this video.
I have a 2002 chevrolet blazer xtreme the PRnD12 on the dash does not display but my odometer does. (Things i know about the vehicle has a aftermarket faceplate for the gauges just stacked over the oem one done by previous owner) it had an aftermarket alarm in it and the R.A.P system does not cut power to radio .power windows and windshield wipers. If i had a diagram i could hunt it down but have yet to find one for the dash and cluster. Luckily it has a floor shifter in it with a indicator on it there. But for me in the 7 months ive owned it. Its drove me nuts.. Soldering isnt my strong suite as i have nerve damage from an accident when i was a teen (super shaky).
I would like to know how you soldered that chip in without bridging between leads.
I've got bulb issues with my 1999. I'd like to change them to LEDs.
Why did you replace the led lights and switch back to the old style? Great video by the way, very well organized.
Well done, I'm surprised the mileage isn't stored in the ECM ?
Man of many talents ! Only a few man can do bodywork on cars and replacing smd processors .
Great job, particularly replacing the IC, which is always tricky. Quite a different repair, after seeing you build the frame machine. Pays to be versatile these days – saves a fortune paying someone to do the job for you. Might have been a couple of hundred bucks to send that cluster to an instrument repairer.
good job keep up the good work (Y)
I had a cluster issue with a 2000 GMC for 10 years, but it fixed itself…
