Hannah, on the dual control climate controls, if one side still blows cold
and the drivers side blows hot, you need to replace the actuator that is
for the drivers side. It is actually just to the right of the transmission
hump under the dash. I need to replace one in my truck, but I’ve been told
it is a half hour job.
i have a 97 tahoe that blow ac half to ac vents and half to defrost.
someone told me i could have had something drop down from the dash but i
cant see anything. the actuator change you videoed looked easy enough.
maybe it will fix my problem.
good video thanks man really big help it save some money not taking it to
mechanic
thanks for the video, this has some good tips, going to replace my drivers
blend door on 2004 tahoe. LYK how it goes
Can you tell me why my blower motor only works on the high speed ? the
lower 3 settings do nothing ? Thanks
my 2004 Chevy SUV has the dual controls where the driver side will suddenly
blow Screaming hot air in the summer, (when you need AC). it sounds like my
issue might be the “blend door” – does that sound like a good guestimate to
you?
You are welcome, glad to help.
Awesome video was a huge help to me thank you very much!
I have 95 WT1500 and I have HOT to blow out of the vents and floor but when
I change to defrost it goes to AC cold with the temp set on hot. Have you
had any dealings with this?
Most likely the panel. I would confirm system charge and also see if a
command is being sent to the compressor to turn on during the times that it
isn’t responsive before you spend the money for a control panel. You may
also be able to repair the panel yourself.
My question is on my 96 GMC 1500 the blower works on all speeds but the ac
compressor only turns on when the blower switch is between off & low. Is
that the control panel or an actuator?
Check out my 95 chevy
our 95 just went out on the drivers side damn it hot air in the face the
rest of the truck cold
Thanks man! Sometimes my truck will stay on the floor and not come our then
vents and have to wait like 5 mins and a tap on the dash makes it come kit
the Pannel
Ok, thanks. I understand the procedure, just can’t seen to get any tools on
the bolts to remove the actuator. Its a tight area.
thank you sooooo much for this video!!!! had nooooo idea what so ever what
controlled were the air went …. didnt even know what to type to look for
lol… just googled some stuff like blower motor some how ran across your
video>>> watched it .. ran to orileys … bought the part .. put it in..
worked great!!!!!…… great video man!!! thank you!
Awesome!
You may try taking out the accessory plugs there in the center. Be careful
though, that plastic isn’t strong.
jeez..”blend” door.
Thanks for the video it was very helpful with changing my 02 Tahoe mode
actuator.
help!!!!!! is there a way to manually lock the hvac actuator on hot in my
chevy blazer ‘ 99
@WhoSaidTyler, Thanks I’ll try to dismount and block.
Both my actuators tend to have a mind of their own and move whenever they
please. I was thinking about replacing the one at the blend door until I
realized the one on the floor moves funny too. Maybe I just need to replace
the control unit. My system is pretty much the same as yours, it’s a 95
gmc. Nice vid, thanks!
Blend door controls hot or cold…your problem sounds like the mode door
actuator which is the one I replaced in this video. Rule about not running
them detached from the box still applies.
My truck (only when I turn it on or off) I get a repetitive CLICK CLICK
CLICK down by the heater fan, I found a actuator on the left side of the
fan and unplugged it & it stopped. I just replaced the heater fan the other
day cause it was squealing like a banchie & inside the box I saw a flap, I
sure that was the noise. Is that the third actuator? Have you ever heard of
this prob. ?
I have a 1998 Chevrolet S-10 reg. 4 cyl. I don’t get any air out of the
floor setting. It only blows out of the defrost. heat works fine everwhere,
except floor. NOTHING blows out the floor vent. If I put it on floor, it
blows out the dash Any idia or suggestion? Thanks
I have a 99 surburban and the air is blowing to the floor and now the
control panel out to it want light up nothing so do I need to.replace both
I have a problem with my 96 sierra my AC went out and Idk why. I think its
my AC control unit bc I had problems with it before and to turn the lights
to the AC and recirculate buttons off I would have to wiggle the power knob
to the unit. All it does now when I turn my ac on is it blows air. not cold
or hot it blows down to the floor and out the side vents I noticed that it
blows out my main vents for a second when I turn the AC off for a second
and then back on again. Thank you for any help!
You simply turn the actuator in your hand until you can slide it on the
shaft. DON’T try to manually turn the inner workings of the actuator.
It didn’t engage at all, but now when I hooked it up to force it, it slaps.
I’m pretty sure it will break something in there now, lol.
@gazzellanorm Ah. Well just remove the appropriate actuator(on a full size
it is the one mounted front and center) and use something like strong tape
to hold the shaft in the right spot. Remember to not operate the new
actuator until it is mounted to the HVAC box and don’t turn the actuator by
hand.
i had same problem and my actuator behind cigarette ligher was bad ,, all
the mechanical parts worked but i open it up and one of the wheels and
axles was split in half and that half was wut i needed to reach the cold
setting
When you pull off the motor that selects which vents the air comes from,
behind it you’ll see a white lever/knob. It’s actually what the motor uses
for selecting positions.
I have a 99 same body style as yours. My ac works but doesn’t get very
cold. The freon levels are normal. Do you think it’s the blend door going
out that’s mixing warm/cold air? Also there’s a intermittent click every
30secs near that area.
Thank you very much for this video!! Now I know what’s wrong with my ac!!
Will be fixing it this weekend.
No, I’m sorry I don’t, but it’s the same procedure. Sytem off, ignition
off, remove fasteners. Replace with new part by rotating shaft to enable
actuator to slide on and bolt in. Do not operate actuator with it off the
box, ever.
I am new at posting comment so forgive me as i learn. The syndicated
brothers car/talk could not help a lady with that knocking noise. It still
occurs as you walk away from the car.or just fooling around with the
control system knobs and features.Any way your video enabled me to have her
guns loaded when dealing with the service righter, they messed her around so
much she did not have the extended warranty But the coded the repair and G
M ate it near 1k in the book.Thank you so much with all yado
Thank you so much! My son now has AC and Heat and is no longer stuck on
defrost!
@WhoSaidTyler I checked mine, and it doesn’t seem to even turn quite 1/4
turn all the way from one knob position to the farthest. I’m guessing it’s
supposed to move more than that.
Did yours have a SLOW engagement of the change over from the dash defrost
vents to the upper front vents? Mine does it, The flapper door is slow to
change and when it does it goes “SLAP”
I have 2004 chevy and the drivers side goes hot about every other day,
passenger side stays cool…I’m guessing this is the blend door problem,
correct? Is the blend door just as easy to change?
Will this procedure work on my 97 K1500 ? .. maybe a stupid question but ya
never know 🙂 My issue is that I have air coming thru on my body vents when
all I want is the defrost to work I changed the control panel last week
Thanks John
Actually, what you were saying at the 7 minute mark about not running the
motor while it’s off the box isn’t true. The motor won’t turn past a
certain point on or off the box. I’ve done it before when I was trying to
diagnose the problem in mine. My problem was actually the control panel
wouldn’t “tell” the motor to turn far enough to make it blow out the dash
vents only. For a while I just pulled it off and if I wanted to switch the
position I’d reach under the dash and turn the lever.
Thanks a lot, I am diagnosing my heating issues right now and I am pretty
sure it is the blend door, but I have a question. So when I shift from
inside circulation to out side air I hear everything shifting and working
fine. Is that what the blend door does? How do I check if it is the blend
door or something else. I didnt quite understand what part you where
referring to that sits underneath the controls on the dash board.
Hello, I have a 1998 K1500 and recently replaced my heater blower fan.
Since doing so, the defrost does not blow very hard on the passenger side,
probably only about 25% of what it did before changing out the motor. All
other functions work great and normally. Just the Defrost is having this
issue. Any ideas of what would have caused this and what I can try to
repair? I did notice that the rubber cover that encloses the blower was a
real pain to get back on after replacement. Thanks!
