Take it to a manual car wash, spray the undercarriage as clean as you
reasonably can so that it is easy to see where the leak is coming from, put
it on stands, crawl underneath and start it up. It will be somewhere in the
fuel feed line to the engine and not the tank itself. I believe on these
cars the lines and filter run along the driver’s side so the leak is likely
before the filter in the sending unit like mine was. Good chance you need
to drop the tank to fix it. Let us know what you find!

If the fuel sending unit and fuel gauge are out of calibration by about 3
to 5 ohms, would it still be some what accurate enough?

Laurynas Tamosiunas says:

oh yeah i se that i had a small bad rust spot past my fuel filter that i
cut out and placed some thin hose on and clamped itdown that fixed it. i
ant to change my fuel filter but theres so much rust im afraid of breaking
it all.

I know what you mean. There are a lot of things on this car that would
rather break off or twist off than unfasten, and simple jobs like changing
a fuel filter can easily turn into something major, like replacing large
parts of a the fuel system. Sometimes its best to just leave things alone
if they seem happy as they are in my opinion.

Laurynas Tamosiunas says:

honestly what symptoms did your Buick have before replacing the fuel
sending unit??

knurlgnar24 says:

Rust. The fuel lines on the fuel sending unit were rusted and started
leaking.
