Yah I have to get some dogs now so I can fix my truck and make a video.
what do you have to lift up in order to remove the bracket? i have an 06
silverado and both of my rear brackets r broken i dont know from what
thought. like my backet is still connected to the frame but broken from the
bottom the only thing keeping things together is the bolt you sawed off but
dont know where to buy that hanger or bracket at? and dont know what to
hold up my axle or frame…..
thanks, the shackle brackets on older Ford F150s seem to rust out. i bet a
big part of that is the fact that they are right behind the rear wheels,
and i imagine salt-snow from the tires gets thrown onto the bracket, where
it sits for a while.
Your ford is about a piece of junk. Just like mine.
Nice DIYer video. Thanks.
I’ll be using it, I’m all ready to go on the job, but I do, however, want
to get this thing running fine before I do other work to it. Acts lean, in
the way that the exhaust coming out is WAY hotter than it should be, and
has no power either, yet it’s got HORRIBLE gas mileage and a bit of
white-ish grey smoke when cold, and consumes oil…
do i need to remove the shackle bracket to replace the shackle itself
Nice video. Thank you very much. That was a rough job. I would be throwing
tools across the yard if I was doing it.
why wouldn’t you replace both parts? the part that connects to the frame
and the part that connects to the spring…
Thanks Eric!
how much is it for a shop to do it for you?
Where did you get the hanger? What all did it come with?
not sure i understand the question here, i’m pretty sure i replaced all
bolts and the shackle brackets. ? thx! eric.
Betting the dogs did all the work every time the camera was shut off. They
looked like they were really into it.
if i could get those labradors to work, i’d be very happy. they love the
tennis ball! eric.
like 400
i figure if i had 4WD, it would be more stuff to fix. thx, eri c
Eric, Might I suggest you try using a die grinder next time. I use
pneumatic ones. You can find them for a fair price at several different
places, I’d start with Harbor Freight, or Walmart. You will use less
consumables, (grinding disc versus reciprocating saw blades) and it will
get done a lot faster. Enjoyed the show though, great work.
@tbmst2 i have no idea, i do it myself. thx.
@Welcome2NewYork thanks, i would love real garage with a lift, my garage
has a dirt floor, not always fun. eric – GardenFork
Great video !!! You have extreme patience with your dogs !! thanks
@reapperxx probably not, but i’d check a Haynes manual, thx, eric –

just a good tip, if you use the saw on fast speed, you will MELT the teeth
right off. just use a slower speed, and move it back and forth while you
cut, and you should be fine with one blade. i have done a few. good job.
nice dogs by the way!
great, its all about multi-tasking! eric.
glad you like the show. the hanger bracket on the older F150s tend to rust
out up here in the Northeast, with all the salt on the roads. we post new
stuff each week, subscribe if you like! eric.
truck repair can be that way. i just replaced the computer on my 93 F150,
and it fixed the idle problem . expensive part, but it worked. thx, eric.
nice man… it really helps a lot for me 🙂 from the phillippines
Thanks for taking the time to show all the steps, good video. Thank you for
explaining on how line up the shackle holes up. Leaf spring shackle kits
can be found online. Some kits don’t include bolts but they too can be found
online. Shop for the best deal you can find. Be careful working underneath
vehicles because it can be dangerous. If you have to take off the trailer
hitch be careful they are heavy don’t let it fall on you. My 2002 Silverado
needs this this done too!
How did you release the tension on the leaf spring? My leaf spring shackle
broke right off the bracket and is pushing up against the bed. I need to
release the tension on the spring so I can maneuver it back to bolt it into
through the bushing. Any help would be appreciated.
