Great information
Quick question, a buddy has an 18 f150 v8 and apon starting it has a noise similar to pre ignition but louder, he says if he puts premium in it greatly reduces the noise. I say the oil change place is using a cheap oil filter. Thanks do much

OBEY says:

Is there a good aftermarket performance upgrade for these?

Stephen Brown says:

Chrysler has this problem with the 3.6

Zachary Mundell says:

I have a question, and I'm gonna try and cram it all in here just in case you do see it and can respond or send me to the proper video. I have a 05 expedition with the 5.4 3 valve. I had a bad misfire so I replaced the spark plugs with ford motorcraft plugs. All coil packs with blue streak coil packs. Still had a miss. So I
did the evap vent canister and evap vent solenoid. Found out one of the spark plugs were bad out the box in cylinder 7 and it made a huge difference. One thing the truck has always done is idle a little rough and sound like a diesel. Was hoping that fixed it but it didn't. Others say theirs has just shut off and won't
start, etc. mine drives just fine, but has that rough idle and sound. I've seen someone in a forum mention a fuel pump driver module. Others advices I check injectors. Is there anything I can do or check for to resolve the issue?

South of the Hill says:

I have a 10 F-150 with the ticking 5.4 and my Ford mechanic buddy and I replaced the cam followers with the updated part to correct the issue. It did quiet the tick just a little bit. The valvetrain still is noisy though. Would it be safe to try much thicker oil with the stock pump?

tony ackerman says:

I had a roller follower in the same position as this go bad very quickly at 180k miles. I swapped all the followers on that side and put a new cam in just for insurance. I am now at 242k miles and going to replace all the followers on the other side. And yes…i still have all my original timing set. My engine doesn't make much noise at start up or warm idle. switching to 5w-30 motorcraft oil years ago and being religious with oil changes has helped tremendously.

Cameron Foreman says:

Can you change these in chassis?

Terry White says:

Just based off your videos, even though I don't hear anything ticking, I am going to replace them because I have 165,000 miles on the engine. Thanks for your videos!! Your a blessing to us truck owners and because times are very tough financially right now, I hope you understand the magnitude of how much you have blessed your viewers with the knowledge and expertise to work on their own vehicles! Wished I lived closer, but I live near Atlanta, GA…..This channel is my goto for my 2006 F150 XLT, 5.4L 3V!! Thanks!

CHRISTOPHER D HERMAN says:

My V10 makes a ticking noise at 2000 rpm only. Quite at idle.

cbdvil says:

Are there any after market can shafts you would recommend?

Doug Ney says:

Is their a fuel filter on the engine on the 5.4 ?

Mike Pahl says:

So at 203k is it worth just doing rockers and timing sets? Is the bottom end pretty solid on these?
