Oh man y ok u cheated try replacing on the side of the road laying on your back with the temp around 115 taking out was the hardest putting in took only 15 mins it's because I started with the hardest bolt first

Daniel Ryan says:

Is the top bolt facing the same way as the other two? I stuck my phone up there to take a pic and it either broke off, or it's the end of the bolt with the head on the other side. I've put about 3 hours into it yesterday

Noel Lucio says:

I can't get the third bolt out myself. My hands are too big

Francisco López says:

2005 4.6 4×4 f150.I tried taking second and third bolt out and they won't come out. Bolt heads ended up getting damaged. This is the worse design on a vehicle I've ever seen to take a starter off!

Armed_ Veteran-81 says:

it's almost like they design these newer vehicles so that you can't work on them at the house. this never happens when I work on my 78 f150 4×4.

Armed_ Veteran-81 says:

I have an 08 f150 4.6L. I cannot for the life of me how to get the top third bolt can't see or even access it from the top, side or bottom. I would have to completely remove my exhaust and and right manifold. Truck is going to the shop, I'm tired of fighting with it

chris palomo says:

the negative cable on the starter of my 2000 4.6 expediton smokes. it has burned out 2 starters already

Rach Mac says:

you fucking suck

david earl says:

Just a reminder to disconnect the Battery during this operation

Dave Spiller says:

I didn't know the history of my vehicle so I wanted to replace the brushes ( being an aircraft mechanic ) , however I just could not get the upper bolt and saw that the starter had blue putty on the bolts so thought it wasn't worth pain and aggravation
to check the brushes for that third bolt. I don't have a lift to make it easier to move around under the expedition, enjoyed the
video dude, thanks anyways.

Pete Smith says:

Make sure you disconnect the ground terminal on the battery first.Otherwise nice video.

Julie Anderson says:

Thanks was awesome, just needed to know the tools to take

Kaeli Tatroe says:

thank you for saving me time and money currently working on this

Dennis Arlinghaus says:

Just now, my '04 E-350 w/ the 5.4L wouldn't start in -20F weather at 4AM but my battery was good (literally less than 24 hours old, so I knew that wasn't the issue). Figured I needed to bang on the lower starter solenoid. I used your video to help me locate it quickly (I really didn't feel like browsing around very long in -20F!). Thanks man. Started right up.

gottheflick says:

Thanks for posting your video. Went just like like you said on my '08 F150 4X4. The only thing I'd add is to wrap a little electrical tape around the bolt flange and the socket to hold things in place when trying to line up that top bolt. Took about 3 hours, including time to go get the new starter. Don't know why this stuff always happens in the winter. It' s 17 out side, but 50 in the garage. Thank heavens for insulated garages and ceramic heaters!

annonomous me says:

I have 3 bolts the top one is a bitch and no wat to get anything in there its a 2004 explorer limited v8 4.6

bSlimC says:

I'm working on a 2007 expedition starter replacement and I have all the bolts out 3 of them. And the starter will not move. Do you have any recommendations on what I'm missing?

Tim Roberts says:

how do you get to the 3 bolt, hidden at the top?
