I did not have to remove the struts to change the upper control arms on my 2010 F150. It wasn’t easy to get the bolt back in but I was able to do it.

I have an 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis that also need upper control arms replaced as well. Can I use this same method without taking the brake caliber off?

That is the dumbest way to bolt those in. They should have put the nuts on the inside
