Couple of notes:
If you have after market LED brake lights that can also make your cruise control not work. You need to add an additional resistor in line to bring up the resistance.
Check if there are any recalls on your vehicle. The pressure sensor switch is a recalled item on some Fords.
If your horn and your switches don’t work on your vehicle there is a good chance it is your clock spring: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-PC8r8GkCA&ab_channel=FordTechMakuloco

At Time index 0:16 – This is the cruise disconnect switch and needs to be replaced Immediately as this style has a recall due to internal leakage from brake fluid and causing fires to start. Ford does have a updated switch and wire loom to replace this old design…

the cruise on my 2005 f150 quit. i have not driven it in a while, my wife drives it. she did not mention to me the right turn signal was not working but told me the cruis did not work. after watching rthis video,. i had a couple of extra brake light bulbs laying around so i changed the right one and VOILa, it works now. thank yoU for your concise and thorough video.

Mike Maughan says:

Great video thank you! Turned out my parking brake was slightly engaged, leading me to this question!
I have a 2008 F150 XLT with a non functional parking brake, so the light is always on. This does NOT prevent the cruise control from working. However if the parking brake pedal is depressed at all, it disabled the cruise control.
Im curious about this….

How to set cruise control. My c/control use to set at (74 76 84 86 90 95 100 105 110 115)Now it’s only setting at 74 76 84 86 94 96 104 106 114 116. How can I set it so it sets at the first set of numbers in brackets but would rather have 74 76 84 86 be 75 and 85. It does use other numbers but not the ones I want, Because when I press the up or down button it goes up or down 2 klms per hr. How can set to go one klms at a time.

2005 f150 XLT

While driving down the road the cc just randomly turns on. Then it might go off. Occasionally I have to press the break to turn it off. Any ideas?

Jason W says:

Why would your shifter bulb being burned out be a quick way of knowing if the part is bad? couldn't it just be a bad bulb? Because my bold isn't lighting up but the shifter is working properly.

Jason W says:

You forgot to mention a bad clock spring

Steve Wells says:

I've been struggling with my 05 Mercury Mariner's cruise control since I bought it. I had no idea that there was a diagnostic mode for it. I'm going to try it today.

My Continental says:

My brake light was on in dash because I was low on brake fluid. Did a brake job topped off fluid .Cruze works now.

Very informative video and clear instructions on how to fix! Good camera work and editing also. Thank you very much! I just purchased an 02 F150 and my cruise control isn't working so I went to YouTube and this was the first video i watched. My problem was the master cylinder switch. If anyone is looking, the fuse box is on the driver side on 97-02.

I have a 2017 f150 with adaptive. It started to randomly not work at all, no response to any of the buttons, then hours later it will work again. Checked tail lights, they are fine. I did replace the starter right about when this started, and I also wiped most of the engine bay down with a damp cloth, but I did not spray any water in the bay.

Bruce Johnson says:

I watched your video. Went out to my truck and checked my break lights, they worked. Next I started it up and put it into gear without pushing the break. I ordered parts. Thank you for the video a super quick diagnostics.

I have all the buttons on my steering wheel, from on, off, res, set, cat, but none of them are responding. What can be the problem, is there a solution? Thank you.
