hello i need help identifying an old ford diesel tractor i bought.its a 3 cyl diesel with an 8 speed transmission with the first 2 gears striped.also needs a valve job and a water pump..cannot find any numbers stamped anywhere on the block except where the block bolts to the transmission. which looks to 29B3747757.does that help?

I HAVE a Ford model 2030 industrial 4 cyl diesel tractor could this also possibly be a Ford 4000 series Tractor, ive been its a 981 , 840, 700, 600 , 2000, however behind the starter on the frame is stamped two sets of numbers one s et in diamonds 6 digits , the other is 2030. but mine has the Cyclops sheet metal with Ford industrial cap dead center of the hood . also where can I find a good shop manual . thanks inadvance R Lankford.

it does not have a clutch just a gear shift on the floor 4 shifts and a shifter by the steering wheel forward n and reverse
I have a1973 ford 4500 loader backhoe it wont go in drive reverse is find any suggestions on my problem
Helpful video, and good for you taking that all apart! I could never remember what came from where when I go to put it back together.
Also, I have an 1841 HD Industrial with a backhoe from around 1956. I may have to split it as my Sherman is very noisy only when I switch it in the reverse position. Like a bad bearing or something. These old tractors are interesting.
That is what I did for 32 years. Transmission rebuilder and shop owner. Good job.

i know you have an answer for my question….i know some mechanics use a HAND HYDRAULIC PUMP AND CYLINDER? to extract some pieces out of some tractors…..do you know what type kind name of this pumps? SPECIALLY the cylinder thing they use to put pressure to insert piece back in, i need to know name of this tools

How much was your service manual? The one I saw on Jensales' site for my tractor was close to $500!?!
You sir have a step up transmission it has the helical gears inside and the step down has the straight cut gears hope this helps
