In this video, 1A Auto shows you how to install and replace a broken, damaged, or cracked upper and lower steering column shift tube assembly 01 Ford Ranger
What kind of grease did you use? Thanks in advance.
Thanks so much A1…I had the same problem on my 97F150 rear bolt on the shifter tube by the linkage broke off, everything went smoothly, but when I put my ignition lock switch back in my key does not go back to accessories and does not lock after the key is out,and to top it off,it starts without the key in the run position…please help
After having had worked at 4 different Ford dealships (1 Lincoln/Mercury) in 2 different states, its hard to imagine I had never did this job turning wrenches for over 40 years… This is an excellent video and paced to allow even a shade tree mechanic , without fear, to install this. At 73 and retired for 17 years, I commend you for this video.
Very informative I have that problem right now on my excursion
Just got done replacing a broken clamp that holds the shifter tube, it fixed the slop of the shifter but the key will move at all nor the shifter both are locked up. I had trouble aligning the shifter tube until I reached back and shifted it by hand. What do you think I did wrong?
I was not able to put it in park so when I started working on it I had it in neutral, then putting it back together I shifted by hand in order to make the shifter tube to sit in the right the place.
Thanks,
-Jack
Thank you for this video!!!! You probably saved me hundreds. Everything went smoothly and it's back up and running. And I have an 01 ford ranger, so this couldn't have been better!
Thanks again!
what kind of grease? thanks for making these videos. y'all are saving a fatherless generation lol
thanks great video,my 97 mountaineer indicater would not line up with letters, but it still worked after a while indicater lever was real hard to move finely i was like have to fix it,.watched ur video .i had one hex screw fall out and one loose, and the hoops that go over colum ,one was broke,so im guessing the loose screws worked for a while but once one fell out out then pressure was on hoops over bushings ,but great video fixed it
