You may want to flush the transmission out and then fill it with new transmission fluid, and also add a new transmission filter. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
how about having my truck submerge in water then dryed off runs fine decided to check tranny dip stick had rust at the top and dark oil lokking trans fluid what to do?
Thanks for the quick response and the video was a huge help and money saver i did it and its basically the same. All i did was buy a torque wrench as you said and it was done perfect thanks a lot keep up the good work.
If it has the same transmission, you should be able to apply this video to your application. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393 FREE SHIPPING in the lower 48 states!!
Is this the same for a 96 Ranger 4×4 3.0 v6
You could have someone turn the steering wheel back-and-forth while you check the steering linkage to see if anything is worn. Do this with the vehicle off, so that it puts a load on the steering components. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
How to fix steering wheel play for 1998 Ford Ranger? any video?
it is the same concept but the bolts and also the parts will look different between the two vehicles.
i have a 1989 Mitsubishi Montero 4wd, it is the same procedure??? great video! thank’s. From Puerto Rico.
You may have to drop the exhaust down to remove the panel properly
I have a 2000 explorer and my Exhaust pipe is right under my tranny pan and im having a hard time getting it off
any suggestions?
Yes we are also on Ebay.
but you guys also sell on ebay right? I think I’ve bought from you on ebay before…
Possibly or it may also be a block somewhere in the transmission line. You could try to remove them and blow them out with an air gun. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
I HAVE A 95 FORD explorer ,, i took off the cooling lines and there was no tranny oil flowing thru ,,,could that be the filter ????
If you did that and changed all of the transmission fluid it would probably help quite a bit.
HI Alex, Thank you for visiting us on YouTube. Have a great day! 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
If you haven’t tried it yet, you may want to try a full fluid change first with a new filter.
Hi Derek, It may be. You could try to flush all of the old fluid out of the transmission and add a new filter in. I just did this to my 97 Jeep using a bucket to push all of the old fluid out into. I shifts like a brand new Jeep now.
i have a 94 explorer and my problem is it wont change gears until it warms up or if i drive it and let up off the gas a bit it will change gears, could that be the tranny filter, and how much would that cost about, when its fully warmed up i can drive it ok, no problem
Great video! I have an 02 ranger, and the set up is almost exact, yet now my transmission is shifting hard from reverse to drive…Any ideas to avoid having the beast rebuilt?
i’ve been watching your videos and because of your continued videos to help me…a regular non mechanic…I continue to be a regular customer.
thankyou so much for the info!!! when changing the transmission valve body gasket do you flush the supply hose after?
If more people did this their transmission would last a lot longer.
Thanks for watching. Happy New Year!

You could try to put a new transmission filter in it.
I have a 95 explorer limited edition, and for some reason it wont shift out of first gear unless I take my foot off the gas. What could it be? A transmission shop said I need to have it rebuilt, but someone told me their taurus was acting like this and they changed the tranny filter and it was fine. Do you have any suggestions?
