How to diagnosis a loss of power on a 1990 Ford Bronco 5.8L

Hi Everyone: The customer complaint is a loss of power and a jerking, bucking feeling when under a load. Another repair facility replaced his spark plugs and the same problem. During the test drive I verified his concerns. Next scanned for trouble codes, fuel pressure, volume and current ramping of the fuel pump. As you can see the fuel pressure needle jumping around alot, it was nice and steady at the beginning of testing. The needle Is Not suppposed to jump around For more information be sure to visist: http://www.johnsadlersautorepair.com

hey I had a quick question.. I just got tje Neutral Safery switch replaced.. now my 1st gear doesnt seem to catch so good. Does it need to tuned up or would it just be the tranny it self?

Hey John! i love your videos and sure have learned alot form them. I have a Ford F150 xlt 5.0 v8 1994 model. Has 147.000 miles on it. There are two fuel tanks. front and rare. when i drive it in front fuel i feel like i have much less power then when i drive it in rare fuel tank. Do you think the fuel filter on my front tank is done and it would be enough to change that or do i need to change the hole fuel pump ?

Pep Schmitt says:

you're the MAN!

and its a 1990 has many miles. still runs strong with the fixings I've done. Copper core radiator, water pump, water pump plate, engine cover, timingbelt, master cylinder, new brakes, tires, shocks, steering gearbox, tirods,linkage..

hi john i love your vids. what the hell is that clicking in the bronco? mines does the same? also, my bronco oil gauge begins to jump and go towards low (waaaay low, makes the engine light come on) but when i start to run it goes back to regular. those are 2 things i wonder about that truck.. the clicking noise is just like u have it idling and is going tick tick tick tick.. u can hear it in the video.

I think I have the same problem with my car but I'm testing everything I can so I don't buy parts that are fine but I suspect the fuel pump because the more I ride more powerless is… I can't give it full throttle at once.

John Sadler's Auto Repair says:

Hi xpanderxt2: I just posted the part two video you requested. Yes, it fixed it. You can see the needle on the gauge is very steady now.

xpanderxt2 says:

did a new fuel pump fix it?
