start by disconnecting the nagitive bettery terminal . . . did you notice the bad oil leak. . i woulda installed the belt then installed th lower timimg cover and harmonic balancer. other than that not bad. what did you charge that person?
Didn’t have the special pin. Used a 10mm 1.5 thread head bolt with a locking nut at 2 17/32 inches. Ground the last half inch of threads off and it aligned exactly where the video showed. No impact so used a wrench and a 2 pound hammer to get the crank bolt off. Used loctite red on the crank reassembly. Used a flat file shimmed it tight on the cam alignment. Started 2nd crank. Thanks srmastertech.
you are a fast mechanic i wish i had half your speed . thanks very much for your very informative video . where do you live maybe you can do a video while fixing my car . lol thanks you are very good .
Very good video, I did notice that you did not set the timing with a light? Is it computer controlled and not needed? Please tell me the alapsed time for the job.
Dave Evans, UK I noted that you removed both timing tools before tightening the cam pulleys, wouldn’t this make it possible for the cams to turn and alter the timing as you tighten the pulley bolts??
On any belt driven engine, you should always turn the crankshaft over by two revolutions (720 crankshaft degrees) by hand and re-check your timing with the appropriate timing tools and check the tension on the tensioner pulley. few mistakes in this video, but this one was the most prominent.
Timing chains should not need replaced. They are not a maintenance item, though there have been cases where one will break. Do not worry about it on the Duratec motor
What is the timing belt change interval for Zetec-engine? Mine is 1997 2.0 Zetec E.
What wrench size did you use to hold the camshafts for cam sprocket torqueing ?

Thank you for the detailed instructions. This series was very helpful.

good video, what is the torque setting of the crankshaft bolt and how did you hold the pulley when tightening it?. I have an automatic.thanks

wrong , timing chains DO need changing more so on the new generation of ford engines
Great video. Thanks. A very telling tale.

one major problem… no crank seal, cam seals, waterpump, etc. etc. but i guess that’s job security. haha
Just remember on this motor to check ur tdc take out plug one and line the second mark on ur crank with the edge of the timing mark by ur oil pan
dirpy.com is your friend!
I need this video to do the replacement at home, where I have a lap-top but no internet service, how do I download it?.

what if the timing pin isnt used , will it be a problem as long as the crank timing is not moved ?
your engine is measured in litres, just like when you buy a litre of juice.

how long did these video take
how long does it take to replace the timing belt?
What if its a 2.3 and timing chain is it the same procedure ?
