I’m having the same difficulty with a 2013 escape. I’ve tried it with the door closed and it just keeps cycling between Option Bank 1 and Option Bank 2 with the 4 / 5 honks respectively. The remote start was installed by the dealership outside the factory.

Adam Clemmons says:

Thank you sir for the awesome tutorial! This worked perfect for our 2010 escape.

mitch cox says:

Awesome!! Glad I could help! Please thumbs up and share the video so others can benefit. Thanks!

mitch cox says:

well, I am pretty sure you have to have the door closed in order for this to work. Hopefully others on here with 2013’s can give you some help. Sorry. Good luck.

mitch cox says:

does your car already have remote start? if not NO, it will not enable remote start on a car that doesn’t have it already.

Does it Work For a Ford Expedition 2003 ? can it remote start the car ? plz reply 🙂 thx

baddladd2001 says:

Hello, hoping you can help. For some reason pressing the brake to cycle through isn’t working for my 2013 Expedition. If I leave my door open i can get to option 2, but i can’t cycle to #7. Am I missing something? I’ve seen others with 2013 models have success.

AusGrant says:

I totally did it! It took forever to find the button, but I did it!!! Thank you Mitch!!!

Can’t seem to find service button on 2010 expedition. I have the mykey feature so not sure if that makes a difference

mitch cox says:

Awesome!! Great news. Thanks for letting me know. Glad my video could help. Please give it a thumbs up and SHARE this video. Lots of Ford owners could benefit from it.

Roverabe says:

worked! awesome

mitch cox says:

Sweet! Let me know how it goes.

Roverabe says:

Just saw this online. Will try tonight… “Got my car (2011 Mustang) and did this. After a ‘set back’, it is now working!
I had inadvertanly held the remote fob button too long an reset the all of bank 2 to defaults. I was then getting a “tach not learned ” error when I tried to remote start the car. I put bank 2 option 1 back to On (i.e. tachless) and got it working.”

mitch cox says:

I probably wouldn’t tell them you tried to change it, just tell him it stopped working. ha..

Roverabe says:

Thanks Mitch. Scheduled to go to dealer Wednesday….

mitch cox says:

OK. I don’t have great news but I have the answer. When you were at the step of changing the setting by pressing the remote, instead of pressing and quickly releasing, you pressed and held it longer than 3 seconds. This RESET all the options. Try starting over. or going to your local ford dealership to see if they will reprogram it for you. Let me know the outcome.

Roverabe says:

I was able to find the button totally burried. I followed steps and all seemed to go as described, but now when I try remote start I get 4 chirps of the horn, which in the manual says “tach not programmed, see dealer.” Any thoughts? Many thanks.

Roverabe says:

Sorry, I have a 2010 Expedition and I cannot find the service mode button. Any thoughts? Alternatives to get to the programming stage? Many thanks. I would be really psyched to get this done.

thank you sooooooooo much!!!!!!!!!!!! this really helped a lot. finally my car works the way i want it to!! that safety option is sooo annoying! -2012 Ford Fusion

mack3dg says:

Ok,. I see what you’re saying, and in that case, yes it is convenient to have it set that way.
tanks for the answer…

mitch cox says:

ha… no.. You still have to have the key to be able to drive off with the car. With fords from the factory, you can remote start the vehicle but it shuts off when you open the car door. This video allows it to stay running and allows you to put your key in the ignition and drive off, without the vehicle shutting off and having to restart it. Your vehicle still stays locked, and still requires a key to drive it.

mack3dg says:

yes, but i think i like the safety mode. why, because it would prevent anyone from jumping in your car and taking off with it as it warms up while you’re in the bathroom taking a crap…..

Ken Mitchell says:

It worked on my 2010 Explorer Thank You so much.

mitch cox says:

Thanks for watching and the nice comment. Please share and give this video a thumbs up! There are a lot of ford owners out there and please help get the word out that it CAN be fixed!! Thanks again!

DiscoRoberto says:

My issue is I cannot find the service button..

mitch cox says:

I can’t guarantee it because I haven’t tried it on that model but from everything I read, it should be the same remote start system. So it should work just fine.

DiscoRoberto says:

Does this work for a 2010 ford escape Mitch?

mitch cox says:

Thanks J, Glad it worked for you. Please give the video a thumbs up and share it if you would. Trying to get the word out that it can be done. Ford just won’t do it for you.

mitch cox says:

Glad I could help! Please click the LIKE button and share this video. Ford told me it couldn’t be done. I want to help as many people as possible. Thanks for watching!

Tooocynical says:

Works perfect! Thanks so much for posting the video. Hard part was finding the service button. Mine was up and over the e-brake lever, and backwards. Not easy to find, but once located, programmed easily.

mitch cox says:

WOW. how did you know what I had for lunch. Unbelievable!!!

mitch cox says:

Ha ha.. Sounds good. There aren’t enough Mitch’s out there. It’s a good name. I’ll let you use it as a middle name if you happen to have a girl.
