Veyron640 says:

I bought that stuff i cant remember,, orielly or autozone. one of them two

Veyron640 says:

if you are replacing pans, and have bad luck with leakage. Couple things,
too look at . ARe you tightening them tight enough? is the pan damaged? and
you know it wouldn’t hurt to use some HiTemp Silicone seal where the gasket
rests.

Robert Gary says:

If you replace it with another Focus housing you’ll be doing the job again
in a couple years. If you use the housing from the Contour it’s a perm fix.
Some dealerships know this and will sell you the changed part.

Bruno Ferreira says:

just remove the thermostat…. it is worthless… shouldn`t even exist in
most cars…. unless you live in cold countries.. heheheh.. that must be
your case.. then you shoudn`t remove it.. it makes your car heat and reach
the working temperature, which improves the burning of the mixture of the
fuel in the cylinders… sorry for the english,it is my second language.

Hrayr Aleksanyan says:

Veyron640. OK how to unravel the 3 bolts

rgoers says:

That’s the cleanest engine I have ever seen!!! My Focus with 165k miles
just developed the dreaded failed t-stat housing. Thanks for the vid.
Good stuff!

endy lopez says:

Hi, I tried replacing the thermostat housing by myself but i believe i have
bought the wrong part, where did you buy your part from if you recall?

Javierchos P.R. says:

question, my car is only leaking by this lips were you show, i have to
replace the termostate and all the housing?

charles johnson says:

Great job…..thanks

Edward Thayer says:

Great video, Thanks

Edward Thayer says:

Great video, Thanks

Call Me Dubstep says:

Question, do you know what could be causing white smoke coming from my ford
focus… i dont see any oil coming from the valve cover…. my question
is… i attempted to replace an oilpan gasket… and im wondering if i
didnt replace that properly…

MrTweetyhack says:

I’ve had to replace mine twice and I take the bus often.

Thomas Whitmore says:

Did this yesterday, a pretty easy job. I suggest taking off the first
three hoses that are up front and then unbolt the housing, this will give
you great access to the rear hose. Took no more than an hour and saved
right around 200 dollars by doing it myself.

Lucas Chacon says:

does anyone know where is the coolant temp sensor??

detroitwienner says:

best part…”patent my ass” thanks for the post for anyone wondering, this
is identical to the 2001 as well.

craig clanin says:

Thanks for the Video, I replaced the valve cover gasket last year due to
the oil leaking and smoking. That took, a few hours, I should of shot a
video! This is next…Thanks for the help.

Stacie Gammel says:

Thank you so much!! :0)

DavidVargasCa says:

Wow your engine is way cleaner than mine.

LUMPYWIT says:

Worked a treat. The UK focus doesn’t have that metal pipe in the way its a
rubber hose so a little bit more room. Removing the battery and moving the
battery box to the side helps a lot when trying to get to the tube at the
back. Cheers Great advice 1.5 hours and it was done.

Carlos Vergara says:

Great video. About to attend this on my own

Adrian Gaffy says:

Thanks mate. Seen all I needed to see. Looks exactly like my housing.
Plastic jams up thermostat. I’m doing this without buying new bits. Parts
expensive in Australia.

LUMPYWIT says:

Great video. I’m attempting to fix my focus tomorrow. As good as the focus
is as a medium size family car I think Ford cut a few corners in selecting
plastic for this.

Eric Vincent says:

I could have done this without the video, but the video definitely helped
me do it a lot quicker and be more confident about what I was doing. I
appreciate the time and effort you took to share this.

Matt Smith says:

could this cause an overheating issue while idle? if coolant is leaking out
of the housing?

MrWiseinheart says:

Посибо, то что нада. Превет из Washington.

Jason Adams says:

Gonna try this repair later this week. Using your video as a reference
point. Thanks so much for sharing and I’ll post how the job went.

Target842 says:

Hi guys, I just changed my valve cover gasket, and have dampness
still behind the heat shield.. I think this could be the cause of this? my
coolant did drop a little but nothing major… seems to be near the pipes
(manifold) and underneath not sure if it’s oil or coolant..

Nelson V says:

I have done this repair on my 2000, 2002, and 2003 Ford Focus’s all with
the Zetec motor and it is a whole lot easier to remove the battery and
battery tray and do it. Way easier!!!!

François FAVIER says:

Thanks for the video. I just did it on my 2000 Ford Focus and it was fine
(and I’m not a professional… At all!!). I didn’t need to remove the
battery. I think I’ve saved 200 €… At least 150… I only paid the
thermostat housing (27 eurosding delivery cost).

pocoyo batista says:

Thanks so much for the video, help me so much finding the thermostat

LeeOrph says:

Thanks for the video – it took me an hour and a half to do the job on my
2003 Zetec Focus. Everything was just like in the video. My housing had
cracked and the gasket failed where the housing meets the engine. I
replaced the housing, thermostat and thermostat washer. The housing washer
came with the housing (all Ford brand parts). I used hose clamps with
screws to replace the three bigger hoses clamps to make reassembly easier.
