Brian, i have seen this problem before but this repair doesnt make any
sense. Any electrical specialist can tell you that dielectric grease is an
insulator not a conductor, therefore doing what you showed in this video
would give you less conductivity then if you have just left the paint in
place. what i do is after sanding down the ground area, i bolt the cable
back down tight, then i will either use dielectric grease on top of that,
or sometimes spray paint. I cant tell you how many times i have had cars
towed to me because they wont start and all i do it clean the dielectric
grease off the battery terminals and it fires right up , then i give them a
lecture about not listening to the counter guy at AZ trying to upsell !
Heres a good video going into depth about DG

Hey there! Thanks so much for this video! This morning for the first time,
my 2011 Fiesta had the check engine light come on and it won’t go anywhere
when I’m in drive. I restarted it and now its working but the check engine
light is still on and now that I know about this problem, I’d like to try
and fix it myself. Can you send me the manual TSB? My email is
bheres@aol.com.

Thank you so much. I have been putting off getting my transmission fluid
replaced and now it looks like it caught up with me. I’m at around 64000
miles.

John Riordon says:

Quick question: Did the check engine light turn off on its own after you
did this? Or did you still have to do a manual reset?

Robbie Alzebaq says:

Thank you for this helpful video.
I’m having a grinding noise problem with my 2013 ford fiesta.
I will take it to the dealer but by chance do you have the TSB manual (if
that what it’s called) for the 2013 fiesta.
I just need to use that to support my claim when I go to the dealer.
I’m sure this problem is mentioned in the TSB.
I will be very thankful if you send it to me if you have it.

Thank you.

Matt Snyder says:

Lately, my 2011 Fiesta has been an issue with getting a transmission
malfunction service now message, when this happens my transmission starts
acting up and shifting really roughly but I don’t have this issue at all
until that message pops up.

HINESTROZA1 says:

Great video, thanks for posting, could you please send me the TSB manual?
to avillatoro@metrotech.com.gt also I was wondering; I haven’t had any
issues with my 2011 Ford Fiesta, the only that bothers me is that
while driving on a hill with slow traffic, I get a message on the center
screen that says, Transmission Overheating Stop Safely, is this issue
related to TCM or ground? or does the Fiesta don’t handle well at hills
with traffic? thanks in advance!

Ulises Herrera Barraza says:

Hello I have a 2013 fiesta, shifter is stuck on P and I can’t move and when
I try to start the car it won’t I don’t know what to do car is in P but
when try to shift and press the shifter button it says in the center
console “not in park” do you think it can be the TCM? any advice will help
thank you

Can you send me the TSB manual sjoanna79@yahoo.com my fiesta is having a
lot of transmission problems and since it is out of warranty all Ford
dealer does is change other things that aren’t necesarry and everything is
coming out of my pocket

ruizhernandeztrustfi says:

WOW!
They botched it big time with this, how come they painted that area. (It’s
common sense for the love of GOD… LOL!) Come on! Ford You should know
better.

John Walker says:

Please send me the Manual as well…

The wife’s car has this issue and the clutch was replaced at 65k…
multiple other parts and then…the battery was “weak”…

the issue is better but still makes the car questionable…it would stall
and spudder when slowing to a stop and when starting from a stop. Slowing
down to make a turn was the worst. Least than a thousand miles ago it was
reflashed and the battery was replaced.

e3mtz says:

Hi, my 2012 ford fiesta experience this event outside the standard
warranty. the issue happen to me away from home. Car transmission stop
suddenly shifting, with the following additional issues grinding noise,
no crank, check engine light on, crazy car cluster, and all lights went on
interior and exterior. After it cool down, I was able to drive at speed no
more than 40 mph to the nearest ford dealer( 100 miles away) the tech
required a new battery (I had to pay for it). re-flash the TCM and removed
the paint on the wires ground area, but did not exchange the old bolds for
the new bolds with the dots. It took them a week to perform this.
Walking for a week is not fun at all. Should I ask ford to exchange the old
bolds for the new bolds with the dots?

stealthknight619 says:

I had this procedure done at ford around 35000 miles and it started acting
up at 60000 miles. Ford is ordering the parts but I don’t understand why
this is happening again. Car drives horrible yet I am told it is safe to
drive for nkw4… I had the car for barely 2 years now is a 2013 and I am
glad I got the extended warranty otherwise I will need to pay fully for
this btw they told me the deductible for the repair is $100.. thoughts?

Anoka Phaup says:

Sir, do you know how to get the car to start once it’s gotten to the no
start stage? I’m sick in a parking lot right now and the local dealers
aren’t being very helpful…

Time Traveler says:

You da man! I’ll try that as soon as I get back from Borneo :)

SAM WOLFE says:

Good information. But I can’t get that ground bolt off.. That thing is
torque on there tight. smh..

Hector Nevarez says:

FYI, Ford has decided to warranty all 2011 Fiestas transmissions to 100,000
miles. Also if I were you guys that are having transmission issues on your
2011 – 2014 Fiestas, I would get a lawyer and return you car using your
states lemon law.

Lois Donnelly says:

could I possibly get the tsb manual as well…thanks.

Hi, could you please send me the TSB manual? to jesus.espeleta@hotmail.com
please!!

Simon Bossuyt says:

When I put my fiesta in reverse after turning him on, it feels like the
gear shift is being blocked, so I have to put a bit of force into it to put
him in reverse. But after driving for a couple of minutes and going in
reverse, I have no problem.

cort winegard says:

can you send me the TSB manual wehrd2@gmail.com– thank you

orkcu75 says:

could be possible that the power problem goes beyond this ?
I did this and my fiesta improved a lot, but still, some times, specially
when I have the AC or the heating on, I notice kind of the same problem.
that make me wonder if it is because I have two power hungry devices
running I get this behavior.

would it help having a different cable to supply power ?
a different bolt with dual nut that allow current flow through both sides
of the ear ?
a more powerful battery perhaps ?
my car is out of warranty so I am kind on my own

Agustin Culebro says:

Hi from Mexico, i found your video searching something about the Fiesta’s

I had this exact problem this weekend on my fiesta 2011. Worked like a
charm!! Thank you so much for the video and for the help!

gentlemonsterkennels says:

Subbed and I don’t even own one! Lol. Very nice vid. I’m looking into
getting a 2014 ford fiesta. Even if it has this issue. It looks like an
easy fix. I have a few questions. Does this seem to fix the problem long
term? Are you aware of any other issues with the ford fiesta? If so, is it
on the auto or manual? Which one do you recommend (auto or manual)? Thanks
in advance!

Hector Nevarez says:

There is a class action suit being filed in California over the Fiestas
transmission issues

Aaron Mosser says:

Thanks for the video. I have the manual trans but am having grounding
issues with my car. I’ve cleaned the ground discussed in this video & the
2 lower ones behind it on the crappy plate, also another on passenger
fender. All bolting points were painted. I dont get different Service
Engine Light when its warm but get when its cold. My double click up &
down drivers window works again but my car will shut off at idle sometimes
when idling.
Do you know where there are additional grounds on the 2011 Fiesta? Ford
wont help. Thanks

tlipizy says:

Awesome job, the contact for the ground so ever tiny,
