Ford F250: Front Axle U-Joints Replacement – Part I

Ford F250: Front Axle U-Joints Replacement – Part I

In this video I bring you along as I work on a customers F-250 that had a customer complaint of, “hard to steer and it makes a lot of noise.” Didn’t take long to see the front axle joints are locked up solid! It trashed one of the lock out hubs too. Oh and it needs some brakes. Come along as we make the rust fly.
-Enjoy!

Can't you just push both caps on for the u-turn at the same time?

Carl Kraus says:

I love the way you got that U joint out. Made it look easy. Archimedes and the Law of the Lever. Here is the quote: 'If you give me a lever and a place to stand, I can move the world.

Patrick Kyker says:

I'm guessing with all those flies around that ain't mud.

Jeffry Blackmon says:

I'm surprised that 1) you didn't wash the front end to remove the mud and crud before you brought the truck inside 2) you didn't use a penetrant on all the stubborn threads and on the yoke parts you were disassembling. I picked up a great tip about removing those stubborn bearing caps, though. Consider mounting a vise on that cart. Very good video. Big thanks!

Sean Ward says:

Great video as usual. I've spent far too much of my life fixing Super Duty front ends. At least it wasn't HPFP seals on a 6.4L Powerstroke. I'd prefer slow, painful death to doing that job again. The Lever quote was Archimedes I'm pretty sure, but I wasn't around to hear him say it.

Jenny Muir says:

Whatcha get good recently? I spy a large snap on red and white box with a big blow molded case sitting on top on the floor infront of your Mac box
