Ford Escape – Battery Replacement With Cowl Off – DIY Fail

Ford Escape – Battery Replacement With Cowl Off – DIY Fail

In this video I have a look at a customer’s 2015 Ford Escape that was towed in. The customer tried to change their own battery, but it took a turn for the worse when they tried to get the negative battery terminal off. In a previous video https://youtu.be/-JCAxvnU3VU?si=DLqFVHgqepNQyqsE I showed you how I replace the battery in these vehicles and the comment section was filled with suggestions of removing the cowl instead of removing the air cleaner housing. I thought I’d use this opportunity to show you that method and discuss one of the pitfalls you may encounter along the way.
-Enjoy!

Having done my 2015 via the cowl off method, the next time I would probably try going with removing the airbox, just to compare methods. I didn't think taking off the cowl was too bad my first time.

@slocavky says:

I did the battery in my mother in laws escape with removing the cowl. Wasn't too bad… BUT still sucks in all reality to just change a battery.. Not nearly as bad as a dodge intrepid though

This is why some cars now have the battery in the trunk; less work to inspect or change it.
