Replaced them with Gorilla lugs nuts on both Ford Escape 2014 and 2018.
I really have to wonder what they were thinking when they did this.
If you have a socket set and breaker bar This is just the next size down when cap is lost
There is a reason for this. The solid lug underneath is made of zinc alloy. They use this because of its superior torque retention. However zinc looks very ugly when weathered. So their brilliant idea is to put a happy cap over the ugly zinc.
I didn’t say it was a great reason.
Hate it when my nuts swell. Does it in my Chevy too, not sure if it’s just my Ford.
Tire blew out couple month’s back. Had to beat the included 2018 escape lug nut wrench onto each nut for removal and installation. Discount tire gave me new spline lug nuts at the cost of my hubcaps boot fitting anymore

Dodge uses em too, i absolutely hate these things, its a built in way to get you to buy new ones if your at the dealership
