appreciate your vid. I have 2008 Mustang gt, I think It needs rear wheel bearing, looks like you gotta have a press n all that. Was gonna attempt it myself!!!!!

towrecker says:

just be careful getting the wedding ring cut off to replace the bearing , as if you use a torch or cut off wheel , you can destroy the axle in just a second , so be really slow in that step , and careful lol good luck , and thanks for watching !

woodsracing says:

good video man,,,i gotta do this same thing this week is why I watched..Glad you made it..

Gabriel Velazquez says:

But because it is such a P.I.T.A wedding band is an excellent terminology for the sleeve!

Gabriel Velazquez says:

Funny I never heard the term “wedding ring” for the sleeve

13Brabbit says:

Thanks man I have to do the same shit to my 95 ford f150 because the seal was leaking. Really appreciate this video.

Jorge86924 says:

Good video man I learned a lot from it

towrecker says:

have a tire shop check your tires , as a cupped tire will make that noise too , and a cupped tire can be caused by a warped wheel , very , very common , and getting the tires checked it a free place to start …

mopar2ya440 says:

We got a 2002 mustang that makes a howling noise between 30 and 50 MPH. Raised the rear end and it freespun with no noise. Could it still be an axle bearing?

jlm197576 says:

Always appreciate the time some else sheares to teach you something I like your videos
.Thank you!!

MrRauq says:

what kind of gloves do you wear?

Jeremie Edwards says:

just had a wheel bearing go out on my way home tonight and plan of replacing it in the morning. Just want to thank you for the video since I have never done this on anything but trailers before. My ’73 Bronco and I thank you sir!

towrecker says:

go to user bah53 on is channel search for “ford ranger axle seals and bearings” that is a video of your axle , they used the 8.8 in the f150 , and the ranger , the housing was different widths , but the workings are the same , my axle is a ford 9 inch , a 9 inch does not have a removable rear cover , the 8.8 does have a removable cover …

Will Jones says:

you can just email me at Soldiermedic.2007 at gmail.com

towrecker says:

what year is the truck , they went to the 8.8 a few years after mine , and they are totally different

Will Jones says:

I am working on a 9 Ford F 150 302 it’s got the off semi floating with the press numbers on axle um I can’t find that as you called the wedding ring anywhere um if you have any ideas let me know

towrecker says:

yours is easier in a way , the bearing is a lot easier to change , the harder , well more work part is getting the cover off , and the c-clip out of yours …

towrecker says:

totally different set up on the caprice , they are pressed in the axle housing , no fear you can rent a slide hammer tool to yank them , and the driver to put them back unlike the ford , the axle shaft is the bearing race on the GM , and the axle is held in by a c-clip …

mestupkid689 says:

Was that for a truck or car cus i hope the caprices bearings ain’t pressed on i did one like that on my old Plymouth n hated it lol

towrecker says:

never used a eorch on the axle its self just the rings the axle will only get as hot during the quick cut as it would in use on a hot summers day ,,,

171apples171 says:

I heard using a torch on an axle can result in internal pressure cracks and eventually the end of the axle will come flying off with your wheel and you’ll be grinding up the street. i just used a pneumatic metal cutter and sliced the collars halfway through (until they broke on their own) and then cut the outer race of the bearing, pried it apart, and cut the inner race and gave it a good wack with a large ball peen hammer and a chisel. Was a pretty quick and smooth process.

NCSUME1 says:

Great video man! I appreciate your time and effort. I think I need to replace bearing in my 2001 F-250 SD ~115k mi on originals… Keep making vids…people appreciate ya man.

Andy W says:

You crack me up man. Thanks for the video.

towrecker says:

that should get you fixed up , the torch and erics method are the only 2 ways that you can get it off lol these things are a very tight fit , very tight , be careful pressing it back on , make sure everything is straight , the force needed to get it back on , can and will destroy parts , and could hurt you , be very careful !!

towrecker says:

I have never tried to press one off , I always cut them , but you can use a cut off wheel in a grinder , and cut the ring about 90% through at say 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock , then take a sharp chisel and smack it , and it will split in two , you can do the same with the bearings inner race …basically the same thing as using the torch , just slower and not as easy is all eric has a good video on this method search this vid title exactly ” How To Remove Pressed-on Bearings – EricTheCarGuy”

jhardy37 says:

how do you get the bearing off if you dont have a torch but you have a press. i have the harbor freight press but I can not get the bearing off. the rack that you press against is too thick and i cant get the press plates under the bearing. and can you press the bearing retainer off also or does it have to be cut off first

dxgmmpa says:

This guy is enteraining. Content is also good.

soaphelps says:

now i know a dana 35 axle is smaller but seeing that press im not sure if i could pound that on my axle.. great video!

mustangman76 says:

Me Three says:

beltstowing says:

Raymond Walden says:
