Thanks for posting this, calling out the socket and nut sizes was very helpful as was the tip to use cut sheet metal to make a repair flange. Best of the heat shield repair videos, very helpful. I have a 2003 focus, they are all the same!
They have Pre-Made Aluminum Washers for Roofing that is really CHEAP !!! Buy those and use them as Washers :))))
I'am about to fix the same problem on my car. I have a tip for others that read/watch this video. When steel and aluminium are in contact with each other a chemical reaction happens. This reaction is called "electrolysis", Basically it will corrode both metals. And before you ask?….Yes the car companies know this!. Anyways the fix is to have a barrier between the two metals
PS if the nut, bolt and washer were stainless steel? The problem would never happen in the first place.
it took two hours to screw a couple of nuts on , are you mad
Weak point? LOL you replaced stamped sheet metal nuts with two forms of reinforcement and nylon lock nuts. I'd say the only "weak point" left is the factory studs. Nice repair video.
thanks for the video. I think I would rather pay to have someone fix it tho.
How much do you think an auto-shop should charge to do this? All of my contact points have come loose.
