2005 Ford Focus Passenger Motor Mount Replacement

2005 Ford Focus Passenger Motor Mount Replacement

The failure of the passenger side motor mount is common on 2000-2004 foci. My 2005 was vibrating a lot at idle, so I decided to check my mount. I used the en…

getting ready to change mine again or at least remove it to check it.
I put a new one in 6 months ago and it stopped the vibration but now it
is back. I also used a motorcraft brand. while in reverse with foot on
break the dash board vibrates like mad after sitting over night after
it warms up it does not do it as much. also there was a tsb on the
lower torque strut mount so I will check that mount as well. I already
checked the trans mount

thank you

one of the best RH engine mount isolator R&R VIDEOS I have seen on you
tube

Rondo McBower says:

Thanks for the video! I need to do mine it has about 80k on it and it
sounds like its vibrating apart.

I know that every car has motor mounts and its a pretty common thing
specially if your hard on stops and starts wich is what really tweaks the
motor. The main problem IMO is the motor design is already poorly balanced
from the factory thats why the mounts need fluid in them. Other cars ive
had didnt need fluid in the mounts wich can fail or leak or stretch

My 2005 focus had the same vibration problem, replacing this mount solved
it. Overall this was an excellent video, very well presented; however the
stud nuts are 18 mm not 19.

tanman758 says:

@1SirCarlton It’s called a deflecting beam torque wrench, and yes, it is
old. This type of torque wrench is fairly inaccurate, but it’s better than
nothing or buying a clicker style, especially since I hardly use it.

Mike Stankiewicz says:

yea most of the time those mounts only come with the mount you have to
reuse the bracket

appleinfl says:

Thanks so much for the video! I replaced mine with no trouble and now the
cabin vibration is practically gone.

scotthemedic says:

… IE: Thanks for the video! (made the install MUCH easier.)

Marcus Walker says:

Thanks man. I have an 05 Mazda 3 and just could not find a video on
replacing the side motor mount. The layout of the 05 focus is very close to
that of the mazda 3 and the passenger side motor mount looks exactly the
same. Gonna try to replace it this weekend. I don’t have a hoist and feel a
little wary about putting the jack under the oil pan, is there another more
solid point to put the jack? Again thanks for the video.

Dustynbearz says:

you should do more focus repair videos, im so lost on fixing mine lol

angel zamudio says:

Question why do you replace this is it becuase of vibration

rocknrolljunke72 says:

do u have videos on how to replace the front and rear mounts also????

Rene Eberstark says:

did u have to buy the mount with the railing? or could you just replace the
mount and still keep the silver railing with the previous mount?

1SirCarlton says:

what kind of torque wrench is that? looks like an older model from what im
used to seeing.

tanman758 says:

@TheJustink2 The mount will only come as a whole assembly for 2005-2007
models. I got it from the Ford dealership, part number for an automatic is
5S4Z-6038-CB and for a manual it’s 5S4Z-6038-BB. For 2000-2004 you only get
the rubber portion, and you have to unbolt the old one from the mount frame
and replace it with the new one.

lordhoho1 says:

joe i have the same problem did you find solution

tanman758 says:

@joshyg90 No problem. If you use the cherry picker, make sure you position
it so that it doesn’t apply any side force to the lifting eye (i.e. make
sure it’s lifting straight up). Otherwise, you may strip the threaded hole
in the frame when you go to remove the last of the three bolts. Youtube
doesn’t give me enough space to explain why, but I’m speaking from
experience, and if I ever did this again I would take extra care to
position the cherry picker.

tanman758 says:

@mreus77 Yes the whole oil pan thing did make me a little nervous. Most
people recommend putting a block of wood between the jack and the pan to
better distribute the point force. You could look at using the jack and a
long, thin block of wood to lift against the rim of the pan where it bolts
to the engine. That sounds a little more precarious. Glad I could help.

i have a 2003 ford focus ztw wagon with a 2.3L i suspect a motor mount
issue. this is my problem when i am in reverse and my foot is on the brake
this is a very loud vibration being felt and heard coming from the
passenger side front just under the dash where glove box is is my mount in
the same place as yours and how many mounts are there thanks joe

josh g says:

thanks alot man.. really appreciated your video.. Spring break is this week
and I’m planning to do a complete tune up on my focus.. I was going to use
a jack to lift the engine, but I replaced the hydraulic fluid in my cherry
picker.. so I can use the lifting eye.. =D

Ci DiBi says:

Many thanks for the complete tutorial. I wish you all the best. cidibi Italy

TheJustink2 says:

where did you get the whole assembly from? im trying to find it to fix my
gf focus but not able to find them

rs4pl says:

Where did you get a replacement part? I’m having trouble locating one.

angel zamudio says:

Please someone answer my question is this what will stop the car to vibrate

Vchat200 says:

So this will also apply to the 2007? Looks a hell of a lot easier than I
expected. I just got a 2007 Focus and have the same annoying cabin
vibration.

IILaymanII says:

You need to make more videos your brilliant?

greendream716 says:

Good video. I would not use aftermarket mounts. I had the same mount on a
2000 model replaced with a napa part. The mount fell apart in a matter of
weeks. The mount underneath also needed replacement at about the same time.
Never replaced the one under the battery.

lovepeacenotwar1982 says:

i changed the cv axle yesterday and it wet smooth in , drove prefect, but
in reverse i heard a huge vibration… any ideas?

JOE DELUCIA says:

is your engine a 2.3?

tanman758 says:

@rs4pl I got it from the Ford dealership, part number for an automatic is
5S4Z-6038-CB and for a manual it’s 5S4Z-6038-BB.

yasserdead1 says:

@tanman758 , Thanks a lot man !!! I was struggling with a strong vibration
on my 07 zx3, once I’ve replaced the pass. side mount all vibrations went
away!

lordhoho1 says:

hi my 2002 ford vibrates a lot in reverse but not in park or drive is the
motor mount

scotthemedic says:

Just FYI, 2005 ZX5, the bolts were 18, not 19. 🙂 Otherwise, pretty much
textbook, except if you’re lifting the motor from the bottom, rather than
the top it will require a little more prying/aligning.

m6monster says:

@rs4pl The part can be gotten aftermarket but for some reason all the dumb
ass parts stores and online retailers list it as the mount for the manual
only. however, you will need the remove the old mount and instal the new
one into the mounting bracket.

blueskiltie says:

Turns out my 2005 had 18mm bolts not 19 mm on the two large bolts, Just
thought I would give a heads up….

Gilmour True HD says:

try the autopartsnetwork, i bought a Westar which is a top aftermarket
brand that was 1/2 the cost that ford quoted
