i need help i did this and now my windstar wont stop
Thanks, you just saved me about $400.
@HereIsGreatness what special tools did he use? Not trying to be snooty but do you mean the open ended wrench? The jack the jack stands or the cresent wrench? Watching this video I dont recall seeing any specialty tools though I may have blinked and missed something. If there was a specialty tool then good point, but im just not sure what your referencing.
Nice video. But I have one suggestion. If your making a video for DIY folks. You shouldn’t show off and use your fancy special tools! Use what we would use at home, and the video will be more helpful.
Excellent instructional video!! We just purchased a 03′ Ford Windstar that needs a brake job all around and your video was so helpful. I couldn’t have done it so well without your video. The camera work was excellent too. Very thorough except lubricating the brake shoes, a minor, but important detail to avoid squeaky brake shoes. Thanks a Million!!!

The coil is straightforward, just time consuming. Disconnect the negative terminal, take off the wiper cowl (there are tons of sites out there telling you how to do this), and reach to the back of the engine. Disconnect the spark wires, from there only three bolts hold the ignition coil in place. If you are doing this job, I strongly recommend you think about replacing your spark plugs/wires since they involve the same steps anyway. Also think about knocking out your valve cover gaskets as well.
Awesome video! This is my exact year of windstar. Rear brake replacement, here I come!
the coil is very easy to do
Awesome presentation, i really learned a lot. The only thing you forgot was to put some silicon paste on the shoe support pads. if we don’t put that silicone paste , the brakes shoes will make noise when they are working back and forth on that rough surface. good luck guys!!!
The guy doing the camera work did great
Thank you very much! I’ve done shoes, but not cylinders. Thanks for taking the guess-work out of it!
Makes me want to do this right now too. Good job and great educational video. Very straight and clear. I might be going out today and do on the the front driveway.
hello can you make a video on how to replace a 02 windstar ignition coil.
Makes me want to do this right now! 🙂
Great educational video! Thanks very much.
good reference prior to tackling my 99 windstar rear brakes. good idea to fast fwd on the bolts, thx. Can’t have enough light for viewing–otherwise great job.
