2002 Ford Escort ZX2 HVAC blower resistor before repair

Organist1982’s car was having intermittent cutting out of the AC blower motor and we traced it to bad connections at the blower resistor.

I have a 2000 Ford Escort ZX2 and my AC is not working can this be a
solution? i replaced my compressor but when i turn it on the compressor
wont work so i can fill it up with Freon.

Wild Wilson says:

Yes, that condensation on the resistor gets it all rusty and then it
eventually isn’t rusty and trusty anymore. Thanks for helping me diagnosis
that that was the trouble!

james42519 says:

my moms dynasty had this go on it too. they got to it from under the hood.
take some plastic off from around the wipers and stuff.

james42519 says:

i heard that if you don’t use your ac it stops working. is that true?

Thanks for the video! My ’99 excort zx2 has the same problem. This video
saved me some time and heartache…201,000 + miles GO FORD!

Dometiev says:

This could occur when the engine fan begins to wear, increases power
consumption. Replacement, the resistor and the connector can not help for
long.

vwestlife says:

I remember in my 1991 VW Golf the blower fan resistor unit burned out, so
the only fan speed I got was full blast. But luckily above 40 MPH or so I
still got some air blowing through the vents even without the fan running.

Ger Roe says:

Yaay! GO ROCKAUTO!!

Kodie S says:

I replaced the resistor on my 99 F150 back about 10 months ago because my
heat would only work on the high setting. I had a couple of areas on the
large plastic connector that looked as though they burned a bit. Mine does
not have the small wire hook up like that vehicle however. After I got
myself up under the dashboard and pulled it out, a hand full of rust came
down with it. Sure enough one of the connections was missing about 1/4″ of
wire that had just rotted away.

intresting for the update to see the escort

That helped big time for me correcting a coroded wire that was stopping my
blower from working. Thanks!!!

Denver Morgan says:

Just some advice i would check that motor sometimes they are the cause of
that type of problem.

Kodie S says:

@retrochad The hardest part is getting up under the dash for me personally.

retrochad says:

@ICDave I also need to do the one on my ’92 Ford pickup too as it only
works on the high setting.
