So you don’t need to jack it up, leave the tires on the ground.?

Andrew Axtell says:

Would this work for the 1998 version of the ranger?

Chamblizi The All Mighty! says:

@jlsparky7 did i say there was in shocks your moronical there are springs
in shocks….. but its what ever hope you get crushed for being a improper
mechanical worker.

SparkysGarage says:

@rangerxlt3 You really should replace both rear shocks, not just one. Just
so you know. I hope this vid helped though.

06klitos says:

Thanks it looks easy.

JWO1F says:

My bad, I should have looked further before commenting. Thanks again, these
vids are very helpful.

Vogenitz69 says:

You said 19mm wrench, it was 18mm on mine

SparkysGarage says:

Glad they helped 🙂 Thanks for the comments

JWO1F says:

Just did this on my 2002 Mazda B2300 2wd (which is a Ranger with a
different body). Your video was very helpful. I have a couple
questions/suggestions: -You should show how to properly jack the pick up to
do this shock replacement -I had to use a 15mm and an 18mm wrenches, not a
15mm and a 19mm. -Removing the spare clears a tiny bit of space, but it
doesn’t do much. -The ride became much stiffer for me, maybe a little too
much -Can you expand on how to jack the pick up to do the front shocks?Thx

SparkysGarage says:

Actually didn’t notice much of a difference at all… Little stiffer on the
brakes, that’s about it.

semper fi says:

these shocks dont increase ride height do they???

SparkysGarage says:

Check your leaf spring shackles. Thats definitely a possibility. I did a
vid on it, search on my channel.

I’ll be doing the rear driver side today on my 2002 Ranger Edge…

1DirtbikeBoy says:

ok thank you. ur video is awsome btw, very clear and simple, great job !

SparkysGarage says:

@snapshotdc It is pretty easy on the rear, fronts are a little harder.

SparkysGarage says:

Glad it helped :)Thanks!

SparkysGarage says:

Glad the vid helped 🙂 Thanks for the compliments

SparkysGarage says:

@jlsparky7 Thanks not thats*

Dakota Nichols says:

why did u do this my rear suspension clunks and was told to do this or put
new leaf springs on

SparkysGarage says:

@chamblizi Im still here and have all my limbs… :-/

SparkysGarage says:

@semper fi No they do not. Stock ride height. 🙂

SparkysGarage says:

I can’t remember if I removed the spare or not. I might of for more light
and a better camera angle.

SparkysGarage says:

Glad I was able to help 🙂

SparkysGarage says:

Almost the exact same procedure. You might have an extra shock that is a
dampening shock. It would be in the middle and fairly obvious.

Ron Keane says:

jlsparky7, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I did my 1998 Ford
Ranger tonight. Bottom bolts were painful but I finally got them off. Had
to stop to rest my arms for the night. 🙂 Tomorrow I install the new
shocks. I messed up trying to replace my struts on my 1988 Mazda 626 so I
was a little hesitant doing my truck but your video did a great job showing
how to do the job and to do it safely. Thanks again!

Brennan Smith says:

is there a way, i can buy i shock, just like yours that will increase the
ride height, i don’t want to buy the whole suspension lift kit, i just want
to replace my shocks, but with the replacement shocks, my truck would ride
higher. i have 96 ranger xlt with stock suspension, i am looking at the
skyjacker nitro 8000, will this increase the height. Thank you very much.

SparkysGarage says:

@hp11208 Thanks man.
