On my 1988 f250 I do not have the grey single connector. Is this just a
ground wire? Can I just ground the other plug to do this diagnostic check?

Great video. I have a 93 f150. 4.9L. I have to codes. 998 and 118. I
replaced the tps and put back the original bulds on instrument panel. I
disconnected the battery for about and hour and even over night but the
check engine light came back on. With same codes. My question is how do I
reset the computer. Please help.
Unplug the mass air flow sensor, and start the engine. if it stays running,
the mass air flow sensor is bad.
Disconnecting the battery should clear the codes. 118 is the ECT sensor,
and 998 is hard fault, which could be related to the coolant sensor or
associated wiring.

What about a 95 ford thunderbird v8 I’m encountering a lil bit of smoke out
my exhaust an was told my fuel system is running a little rich
so i tried it and the code was 4141 but when i took out the paperclip it
zapped/shocked and the truck died. it wont stay running longer than 5
seconds. its a v-6 2.9. what could it be?
You said to turn right then left which you did the first time but the
second time you turned left then right. I’m guessing it doesn’t matter
which way you turn first as long as you turn both directions?
I think It can be done on any pre-OBDII Ford

A few years back I purchased an OBD-1 Ford code reader from Amazon for
around $25 from Amazon. I also bought the long extension for reading the
codes from the car, however, it’s not necessary. It works well.

and it was always acting up. There’s nothing like the romantic yellow glow
of the service engine soon light. I kept a paper clip in the center
console, and had the terminals under the dash memorized…

Code 41 is an O2 sensor code I think. I don’t know why the paperclip would
arc or shock you, it’s a very low voltage connection.
