If it were my car or a "budget" Ferrari I'd consider buying? I would go manual. That is overcomplicated to the max and this isn't an F40 or Enzo where everything needs to be 100% pristine

Fix the top cylinders to make it operate the way it should. Also take care of the servicing at the same time.
You make it manual after all those pistons failed. To expensive to replace for Ferrari.
Solution, buy a 348 Spider. Manual top, manual steering, very little to go wrong, especially if you retrofit Euro seatbelts. Mine has been bulletproof for two year. I dont start it for a month sometimes. Fires up immediately every time.

I would rather see you attempt to refurbish the Pistons yourself. You just need to take them apart, swap out the o-rings and seals, and then test them.
